Construction Lawyer Salary: Competitive, based on experience Location: Crawley Job Type: Full-time, Permanent (Hybrid working) An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Construction Lawyer to join a small local legal team but part of a larger global team. This role offers a hybrid working environment, allowing for a balance between office presence and home working. As a Construction Lawyer, you will handle legal matters related to construction contracts, ensuring the legal integrity of ongoing and negotiated contracts. Day to Day of the role: Manage a diverse range of legal cases within the construction sector. Review, negotiate, and draft construction and commercial terms, contracts, and legal agreements. Support commercial negotiations with end clients and provide legal advice on arising issues. Deliver training programmes on legal and contractual risks related to construction terms and contracts. Improve processes and update precedents and templates. Collaborate with regional general counsel and/or external counsel on any arising issues. Required Skills & Qualifications: Qualified lawyer in England & Wales or any relevant jurisdiction with a minimum of 5 years PQE. Strong technical knowledge of construction industry legal aspects and commercial dynamics. Experience with industry-standard forms of contract such as NEC, JCT, FIDIC & SBCC. Familiarity with construction project insurance, collateral warranties, performance bonds, guarantees, and claims management. Understanding of corporate, commercial contracts, and legal principles. Effective negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills. Strategic and creative thinker, capable of resolving legal issues and comfortable working with incomplete information. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and independently. Proficiency in communicating complex legal concepts to non-technical audiences.
