Benefits: 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), Private Health Care, Life assurance, Employee assistance programme, 3rd party discounts, benefit and reward platform Salary: £35k - £55k DOE As Civil Engineer you will work on a broad range of civil engineering and structural assets, from landside assets such as bridges and roadways, to marine assets such as piers, quays and breakwaters. Civil Engineer duties and responsibilities: To assisting in developing civil and structural strategies, ensuring major works and interventions are programmed into the long term investment plans. To review technical designs and specifications, ensuring appropriate design assurance and follow through to implementation. In particular to review and check paving designs ensuring suitably aligned to the company's Paving strategy and best practice approaches, i.e. DMRB and MCHW. From time to time, some paving design may be required. To oversee a programme of condition inspections, collating and reporting on inspection findings, and applying critical judgement in order to plan an efficient and sustainable programme of maintenance and repairs. To provide technical assistance and/or advice on matters relating to civil engineering Take a keen interest in emerging design and construction methodologies, material technologies, and inspection techniques, assess their suitability for application within the estate, and champion their adoption where whole-life cost/benefit analysis supports their justification. To prepare design briefs, designs, work packages and contract documents, specifications, drawings, risk and environmental assessments for the execution of civil & structural engineering and other related works which are to be carried out by contract, whether new construction, planned maintenance or reactive maintenance. To undertake assessments of existing civil and structural assets, review calculations and designs produced by consultants, in accordance with applicable standards and regulations. To work collaboratively with the wider Engineering team (including internal and framework partners) and external contractors, to ensure works are undertaken in line with current standards and best practice approaches. To act as Employer representative under a range of NEC3/4 suite of Contracts ensuring appropriate management of commercial, quality, technical, operational and H&S aspects of delivery. To provide estimates and feasibility studies for proposed new schemes and alterations to existing, with assistance from the Contracts & Procurement Team. As required, to line manage one or more direct reports supporting the delivery and supervision of works. Civil Engineer knowledge and experience: BSc/BEng Civil Engineering, or similar Working towards membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE) or equivalent. Minimum 3 years post graduate experience in the design, planning and delivery of civil engineering works. Knowledge of working within a contractual environment (NEC contract experience desirable). Understanding of Tendering and Contract Administration. Understanding of cost and budget management. Good level of understanding of Risk Management and compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental standards, along with working knowledge of CDM 2015. Experience using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and ability to use project planning tools. Hold a valid driving licence and use of own vehicle. Knowledge of confined space and marine working and procedures, preferred but not essential
