The ideal candidate will have over 4 years of experience in general insurance underwriting, particularly in commercial lines. This role involves managing new enquiries, renewals, policy issuance, and cancellations, as well as maintaining strong relationships with clients and contributing to the control of the loss ratio. Day to Day of the Role: Conduct new enquiry quotations by collecting information, examining proposals, calculating premiums, and sending out quotations. Manage policy renewals by reviewing risk, processing renewals, and issuing renewal letters. Issue policies by meeting deadlines to release live policy documents upon premium receipt. Process cancellations by confirming with customers and liaising with the Finance Department for refunds. Highlight survey risk improvements by sending out documents and following up. Build and maintain effective trading relationships with introducers to contribute to the achievement of results. Deal with online student products by explaining cover and providing customer support. Maintain high-quality service with direct clients and corporate customers to enhance our reputation and increase renewal probabilities. Assess risk and impose terms and conditions effectively to contribute to loss ratio control. Analyse retention levels and make adjustments after investigating factors affecting performance. Provide consistent top-quality service to customers. Support colleagues and undertake other tasks as required. Required Skills & Qualifications: Over 4 years of experience in insurance underwriting, with commercial lines experience; personal line experience is a plus. Strong knowledge and experience in underwriting insurance risks. Familiarity with relevant regulatory practices and legislation in the industry. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Good time management skills to meet deadlines. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
