Job Title: Communications Consultant Duration: 3-6 Months Contract Are you a savvy communicator with a passion for social justice and advocacy? Role Overview: As a Communications Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the union's outreach and engagement efforts. You will be responsible for repurposing content created by our PR teams, monitoring news wires for mentions of the union, and ensuring consistent messaging across all communication channels. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the communications and press teams to coordinate upcoming campaigns and initiatives aimed at advancing the rights and interests of the members. One day per week required onsite in London. Responsibilities: Repurpose content created by PR teams to align with communication strategies, emphasising the values and objectives of our union. Monitor news wires for mentions of the union and leverage these opportunities to amplify our presence and advocate for our members. Understand and embody the social style of our union, engaging effectively with members across various platforms to foster a sense of community and solidarity. Coordinate with communications and press teams to align campaign messaging and strategies across regions, ensuring maximum impact and reach. Lead on the development and execution of advocacy campaigns, leveraging your expertise in social media and communication strategies to mobilise support and drive change. Background/Experience: Proven experience in social media management and content creation, preferably within a union or social justice organisation. Strong background in communications with a focus on advocacy campaigns aimed at empowering workers and advancing social justice causes. Ability to lead and coordinate campaigns effectively, ensuring alignment with the mission and values of the union. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and engage with diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with news monitoring tools and social media analytics is a plus.

The Metropolitan Police Service is currently recruiting for a number of communications managers to join the team for an initial 4 month contract. The rate offered for the role will be £300 - £450 per day umbrella (inside IR35). The successful candidates will work a 5 days week but across a seven-day rota. This team operates a shift basis to provide a service from 8am to 7pm. Shifts are 8 hour long. If will be a requirement to go through CTC vetting so the role wont be an immediate start. They will be seeking a vetting exemption if you hold CTC or SC clearance. JOB PURPOSE There is no greater mission than keeping the public safe. This communications role is integral to the success of the Metropolitan Police Service. Our communities and police officers depend on excellent communication and engagement.??? ?You will form part of a large team who deliver a 24/7 service, responsible for reactive communications and reputation management including media inquiries and engagement across digital channels as well as generating proactive news. You will also provide communication support to spontaneous and planned events, including protest and disorder as well as large-scale gatherings and festivals and ceremonial events. You will help deliver a media service, media strategy, effectively managing proactive and reactive communications of high-profile and often controversial issues in a fast-paced environment. Working across Communication and Engagement to deliver high quality proactive and reactive communications for internal and external channels. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE A proven track-record in a busy media operation, including handling multiple, reactive demands across a range of themes and with different audiences. A strong understanding of effective media and channel monitoring, including the use of a range of digital tools to support this. Evidence of delivering high quality, fast-time rebuttal on digital channels and an understanding of how this can shape media narratives. Able to work at pace and under deadline pressure on fast-moving opportunities and challenges, set out effective handling and oversee consistent messaging.? Strong co-ordination skills, sharing and escalating opportunities and challenges where appropriate and liaising with operational colleagues in a large and complex organisation.? Experience of leading and driving proactive media planning and creative media campaigns across a wide portfolio.?Experience of planning and executing integrated communications plans with multiple stakeholders. A practical understanding of using data and insight to drive communications and of the importance of targeting audiences as well as evaluation. Experience of providing timely and professional advice to and confidence in influencing senior figures on complex issues.? Evidence of taking and processing complex information to produce appropriate, clear and effective communication materials.?
