As a Machinist at our bespoke MMD machine facility, you will: Craft standard and specialised components for bespoke MMD machines, adhering to tight schedules with minimal supervision. Operate both manual and CNC machines to produce high-quality parts. Maintain accurate records of time spent and materials used on each job. Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to implement modifications and improvements to machine builds. Assist in the development of new parts for ongoing research and development efforts. This is a full-time position with a 37.5-hour work week. Location and Salary: Location: Wellingborough Salary: £14.36 per hour, paid weekly Type: This is a temporary position with potential to become permanent. Start: Immediate start available Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Proficient in CNC and manual machining with 3-5 years of experience. Experience with Prototract, SLX, Shopmill is beneficial; however, training is available. Ability to interpret mechanical drawings. Strong mechanical skills. General problem-solving skills and a practical mindset. Team player with a proactive attitude towards learning and skill application. Excellent communication skills. Qualifications Preferred: At least Secondary School education, with 3 O-levels or equivalent. Completion of an Engineering apprenticeship and City & Guilds parts 1 & 2 (4 years). Demonstrated problem-solving abilities. Physical Demands: The role involves frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, and bending. Occasional repetitive hand/wrist motions, and grasping. You will occasionally be exposed to temperature changes, loud noises, vibrations, and some physical and chemical hazards. Most lifting is light to medium (10 to 20 kilos), with occasional heavier lifting. Tools like a pump truck may be used for heavier items. Your new company You will be working with a leading Tier 1 contractor who has been awarded one of the largest sewage treatment projects in the UK to increase the quality of water for over 2million people. Your new role This project aims to improve the resilience and capacity of the Mogden Sewage Treatment Works (STW) to ensure it meets its flow and quality consent for a design population equivalent of 2,404,287. This includes: Enhancing the resilience and capacity of secondary treatment processes. Upgrading the resilience of the sludge and digester streams to prepare them for AMP8 work Key tasks include Ensure the project is running on time, using Last Planner techniques. Keeping the project within H&S regulations To manage the project budget alongside the commercial team and ensure the project runs on budget Stakeholder management - including Senior Management and the Client Management of all teams on site - including Site Supervisors/Operational Teams/Sub-contractors Ensure the project is running in line with clients needs What you'll need to succeed In-depth understanding of best practices in construction management, including experience with MEICA assets Possession of a relevant safety qualification (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely). Working knowledge of the IChemE Burgundy Book Form of Contract (Target Cost), particularly Early Warning Notices and Compensation Events. Demonstrated experience in a similar role within the water or another utility sector. Understanding of water industry technical requirements and working practices. Able to take the lead with client interfaces and manage project delivery on technical and business aspects of team output.
