Your new company Operating both in the UK and across the world, they are a leading contractor delivering projects across multiple sectors including; real estate, defence, education, highways, rail and water. Your new role Working on the largest highways project in the region involving a new 10 mile dual 2-lane carriageway, we are looking for a Highways & Streetworks Inspector to join the project team. As Works Inspector you will be responsible for undertaking site inspections and will report to the Senior Quality Works Inspector. You will provide assurance to both the management team and the client that the delivery team and the supply chain are delivering the work in accordance with the specification and the design requirements. The first line of defence will be by the delivery of on-site coaching and training to the Delivery Team to help them understand the standard required. The second line will be by carrying out inspections of the Works. The role will involve working in a specific area of the project and providing support across multiple disciplines. Key duties: Ensure that quality is given the highest priority in the delivery of the works to achieve right first time. Communicate with delivery team and sub-contractors to ensure full understanding of quality control requirements. Be proactive in preventing substandard Works being produced by coaching and providing training, where applicable, to the Delivery and the supply chain. Ensure that all quality documentation is in place and prestart checks have been carried out prior to the commencement of the work. Monitor the quality of materials via goods inwards inspections Check the works during progress and on completion, on behalf of the contractor to ensure that it has been constructed in line with the specification and relevant design. Ensure that inspections and tests are carried out in line with the inspection and test plans and the Safe System of Work (for controlling the works) and that all necessary documentation is produced in a timely manner. Where works do not comply with the requirements, ensure that Non-conformance Reports are produced, preventive action taken and that they are closed in a timely manner. Offer advice where applicable Support the Quality teams in carrying out site surveillances. Support the resolution of any quality related issues. Offer advice where applicable Support the collation and completion of project record packages including the coordination of the completion of snagging and the closing out of DOWLS/ Punchlist items on an ongoing basis Raise and capture any Quality focused Lessons learned and communicate them to the Quality and Delivery Teams, including the Supply Chain What you'll need to succeed Bachelor degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering Relevant site supervisory or site engineering experience on civil engineering projects, preferably major highway schemes. Or Quality/ Works Inspector experience from a previous civil engineering project. Our St Neots based client are looking for a Class 2 HGV Driver who is able to help in the Warehouse 1 or 2 days a week to join their busy, well established manufacturing company. The ideal candidate must have a Class 2 HGV license as well as previously experience of delivery and some Warehouse duties. Main Responsibilities Driving the Class 2 HGV vehicle to carry out deliveries in a timely and safe manner Securing load and ensuring correct goods are off loaded at site Returning signed paperwork to office each day Maintain cleanliness of vehicle inside and out Report any accidents as soon as possible in compliance with company accident procedures Attend essential training in order to carry out driving role Report daily defects Checking goods received against delivery notes for correct goods and quantities. Put goods away in correct locations Cleanliness of yard and warehouse Loading/unloading of the Class 2 HGV vehicle Accurate and prompt picking and packing and despatch of goods. Attend to customers collecting from the branch Other general duties to maintain efficient working of yard and warehouse Any other ad-hoc duties as required within reasonable request Adhere to all company health and safety polices Skills/Experience Class 2 HGV license Forklift Licence (preferable but not essential) Good communication & customer service skills Flexibility Knowledge of Health & Safety Hours & Pay Approximately 40 hours per week £30,000 per annum
