Good Morning, we are currently recruiting for an Evidence Purge Assistant for Thames Valley Police. This role will be based at their Reading Police Station. This is a temporary role until May 2024 working Monday to Thursday 8am to 4pm and Friday 8am to 3:30pm. Due to the nature of this role you will be required to be physically fit as there will be a lot of heavy lifting. The successful candidate will be required to wear their own Steel Toe Cap Boots. The overall purpose of the role is to: Work with EMU to destroy items of property identified as suitable whilst making sure that this is documented in accordance with current policy and procedures providing a high quality service to both external and internal customers. KEY ACCOUNTABILITY AREAS: Dispose of property in accordance with current Evidence Management policy and procedures. Ensuring all property is searched and checked as appropriate and ensuring compliance with manual handling regulations. Update and maintain records, and where appropriate, issue documents (e.g. transfer sheets) to maintain audits. Deal with telephone/personal enquiries, promptly initiating action when necessary to ensure departmental service levels are maintained. When required, collect evidence from other locations in the force using the van provided to provide support to local EMUs. Maintain an efficient storage system, ensuring that current Health and Safety and COSHH regulations are adhered to. Additional Comments: Undertake such training as is required to develop the personal skills and knowledge. The role is physically demanding and requires working in areas that can be affected by the climate. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA Good standard of education to GCSE or equivalent level, excellent literacy and numeracy skills and proven communication skills at all levels. Good attention to detail and listening skills. Proven ability to work to deadlines and manage a substantial workload. Ability to solve problems with minimum supervision. Willingness to undertake training in Manual Handling. IT literate with experience in MS Applications and willing to learn new technology, databases and systems. Must have capability to travel to different locations across the Force and undertake all assignments in a timely manner, being available to work some evenings and weekends, where required. Due to the requirement to work flexibly, unsocial hours and personal safety for lone working; public transport may not be available or suitable at these times. For this reason a full UK driving licence is considered essential . Job Skills: This is a physical role and the successful applicant will need to be able to lift heavy items on a daily basis.
