We are working with Reading Borough Council to appoint a Qualified Social Worker to work in the area of Homelessness. Reading Adult Social Care and the Rough Sleeping Interventions Team are looking for a social worker to support our residents who have experience of rough sleeping, rough sleeping lifestyles and homelessness. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic group of services who are committed to the government's Rough Sleeping Strategy to end rough sleeping by 2027. You will be based in the Advice and Wellbeing Hub who manage all the new referrals in Adult Social Care. You will be with a team of Social Workers, Occupational Therapist and Social Care Co-ordinators who can provide peer support and you will receive individual supervision to support you with your case load and development of the role. About the Role: To have a small case load to focus on service users with experiencing multiple exclusion homelessness (MEH). MEH refers to the intersection of homelessness - particularly street homelessness - with other forms of exclusion, such as substance use, mental illness, adverse childhood experiences and time spent in institutional care. Work in accordance with the framework for Make Every Adult Matter (MEAM) Reading and to embrace partnership working with all relevant agencies (drug and alcohol services, homelessness support services and mental health services etc). Complete assessments under the Care Act 2014 for services users affected by homelessness, to identify if they have any care and support needs or provide advice and signposting. To complete mental capacity assessments when relevant. To assist with the co-ordination of services with complex cases to ensure the service user does not fall through the gaps between services. Offer support and advice about Safeguarding, risk assessments and mental capacity to partnership agencies. You will need to have a flexible approach when working with this service user group who often have chaotic lifestyles and distrust statutory services. You will work within the legal framework provided by the statute, guidance, policies and procedures. You will need to have: A degree or equivalent in Social Work Registration with Social Work England Understanding of the Care Act 2014 Understanding of the Mental Capacity Act (2005). Experience and knowledge of working with individuals who are experiencing homelessness and substance misuse. We offer excellent support, supervision and induction. This charity is seeking 2 careers advisors. One based in Slough, and the other in Reading. They are a lovely organisation to work for (Investors in People Gold). And if you prefer part time instead of full time, they can look at that too. They are seeking people with experience within the employability / careers sector to work on their national careers service contract. Typically, you will deliver 3 4 sessions per day mostly from community settings (so libraries, JCP, LA offices etc). The aim being to deliver IAG sessions, so participants leave the session with an action plan to move them towards education or employment. Established Employment Advisors start on £25, 800, and those with an IAG 4 / 6 can start higher up the scale with the top end being £31k (for level 4). If you don't have a careers advice qualification, this charity will pay for this and your pay will increase accordingly. Although the roles are based in Slough and Reading, the contract is Berkshire, so you will need to be flexible to go to other locations in the county if there is a need (i.e. referrals numbers change). This role can be offered full time, or part time 3 4 days per week (but the days must be within the working week Mon to Fri, 9 5). The aim of your role is to deliver a one-to-one advice and guidance sessions to help someone move towards education or employment. In each session you will find out what their aims, goals and barriers are. Then put in place an action plan for them to help get there. You will also support with a few practicalities such as helping them put a CV together or researching educational courses. You will typically deliver 3 4 sessions a day with customers.
