Buyer/Category Manager £50 - 55,000 Bonus & Full Package Based Southern or Central England The Person It's an obvious point but you'll be good at your job. That means you'll understand that buying is really about selling and that buying a range is about being commercial, understanding, even predicting, trends, working with suppliers to produce product that people will want in their homes but never losing sight of the bottom line: you're there to make you category profitable. You'll be ambitious. It's a clich but you really will want room to develop and be comfortable making decisions and benefiting from their consequences. Or not. This is a job with room to make a difference and you should think about whether that's for you, because it's not for everyone. Not really. The Role Your starting point is that you have a business to develop but beyond that, it's largely up to you how that's done. You'll shape the category - which is broadly within seasonal goods and home decor, being responsible for just about everything from supplier to shop floor. There's no merchandising function to support you so you better be all over your numbers and OK with the scope. It's a big job, did we say that? Well, it is. But it's also one with enormous potential. Potential to get noticed. Potential to really make an impact and potential for growth, both within the category and the wider business which has a track record of developing talent. The Company This is a retailer with a long and rich heritage that has invested heavily in store refurbishment and is actively expanding throughout the UK. It's one of the best-known businesses in its sector The location for the role is flexible but you will be based in Southern or Central England with access to the M6/M40/M4/M25 network.
