The Benefit Assessment Officer will be responsible for conducting adult financial assessments, determining individuals' contributions towards their care, and providing advice on entitlements to benefits, as well as dealing with customer's enquiries, and delivering excellent customer care.
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Benefit Assessment Officer to join a team based in Waltham Forest on a full time temporary ongoing basis.
Advising the service user what benefits they maybe entitled to and if a deferred payment arrangement applies.
The role includes carrying out adult social care financial assessments to ascertain how much someone can contribute towards their care, gather financial details and expenditure, dealing with queries in writing and over the 'phone, liaising with several departments within the Local Authority and external agencies.
This is for 2 x full time posts on the Adult Social Care Financial Assessment Team.
The efficient processing of benefit claims and enquiries to a satisfactory conclusion at the first point of contact.
Summary of Responsibilities and Personal Duties
Ensure benefit claims are processed efficiently and effectively and in accordance with regulations and agreed procedures including awards of discretionary housing payments.

Assess and make necessary decisions on all types of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction applications including changes in circumstances.
Receive and action correspondence in respect of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction from customers, landlords, Rent Service, DWP and other stakeholders including replying to requests for further information, statements of reasons, reconsiderations, and requests for backdated benefit.
We are looking for an experienced Housing Benefits Assessor to work as part of a team to work on Housing Benefits Accuracy Award Initiative [HBAA] Housing Benefits officer - Key skills & Experience Proven experience of processing all types of Housing Benefit/Council Tax Reduction claims.
Extensive experience of Capita Academy Benefits system.
Up to date knowledge of Housing Benefit legislation and the ability to apply this accurately on a case by case basis A proactive and customer-focused approach to resolving queries Work will be in all areas including : New claims and changes in circumstances HBAA Work on VEP, ATLAS and Universal Credit files The role is open to remote working .
