Macildowie are delighted to be supporting an education organisation in Northampton to recruit a Financial Controller to oversee the operational management of the finance function. This newly-created role will report into the COO and lead a small team in the provision of a high-quality financial service to the organisation, working with external stakeholders to consolidate reporting and budget management. The duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to; Preparation of the financial, management, year-end and statutory accounts Formulating budgets and forecasts, including the three-year strategic plan Management of the cashflow and associated duties Preparation and submission of all regulatory returns including VAT Overseeing annual audit and financial compliance and controls Supervision, development and motivation of a small team Preparation and presentation of board/trustee reports Overseeing all aspects of transactional finance including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking Supporting in funding and bid grants, ad-hoc project duties This fantastic rounded role would suit a qualified finance professional who is able to communicate across all levels within an organisation, whilst demonstrating strong technical skills and experience. Although a candidate who has experience within an education or not-for-profit environment would be advantageous, this is a not a pre-requisite as the organisation are keen to engage with a strong, professional Financial Controller to maintain the financial integrity and support future growth and expansion plans. An attractive salary and benefits package are on offer for the successful candidate, including access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, 27 days holiday plus others. This role is based in Northampton and there is a requirement for some travel across the area which is expensed. The expectation is that you will be in the office four/five days per week during term time but with the opportunity for flexibility and home working during school holidays.
