Our Motor Claims department is there to help and support customers who have been involved in accidents, ensuring their claims are handled accurately and efficiently. Our Motor Claims department is a supportive and collaborative environment where you will have ownership of all aspects of a claim, from gathering information from the Policy Holder to engaging with external parties including lawyers, accident management companies and third-party insurers to name a few. As a Claims Handler, we encourage you to work proactively and be accountable, managing your allocations efficiently and prioritising urgent caseloads. We will teach you all the skills you need to allow you to make informed strategic decisions, over which you have autonomy, in order to settle claims in a timely and cost-effective manner. Main Responsibilities as Motor Claims Handler : Manage a portfolio of fault and non-fault motor claims from cradle to grave, ensuring the customer's requirements and expectations are properly framed and understood. Ensure that claims are handled in the correct technical manner, in accordance with policy cover, legal liability, and departmental fraud and ensure compliance with company policy and external regulators. Manage clear communications with our customers and a variety of third parties, both verbal and written communication including letter writing. Proactive use of the telephone (outbound calling) to engage with external parties in order to move the claim on. Proactively manage an allocation of claims alongside dealing with postal and incoming telephony demand. Protect claims cost and take ownership of making informed decisions relating to payment of claims, liability, settlement costs and complaints. Prioritising claims, ensuring urgent matters are managed efficiently to ensure that we provide customers with a high-quality claims service that strives for excellence and deal in a cost-effective manner. Identify the indicators of fraud and use questioning/investigation techniques to decide if the claim can be progressed to payment or repudiation. Ensure all supporting administrative tasks are completed Skills and experience you need as Motor Claims Handler Be an excellent communicator with strong attention to detail and accuracy to deal effectively with all contacts ranging from the general public through to lawyers. The ability to influence and persuade others to your way of thinking. Experienced in multitasking and prioritising your own workload with the ability to make decisions under pressure. We are currently recruiting for an independent, family-owned Insurance broker in Gloucester with impressive long-term growth plans, who are keen to expand their team with the appointment of an ambitious Commercial Account Handler. The business has grown significantly over the last few years through recruitment, acquisitions of other companies and most importantly due to more and more businesses and individuals entrusting them with their insurance requirements because of the level of service and expertise they offer. They now employ over 25 people in their team of friendly and very knowledgeable insurance brokers in Gloucester. They invest heavily in the training and development of their team and encourage them to study for the Chartered Institute of Insurance qualifications. Despite the rapid growth of the business and the changes in the way insurance is transacted, the ethos of the business continues to be the same as it was when it was established. The successful candidate will be required to assist in providing a comprehensive insurance service to existing and potential new customers. You will be responsible for looking after a small book of existing business. The main focus will be working on a mixed book of SME risks dealing with a general mix of combined, tradesman, Landlords and small PI cases paying from £200 to £2,500 in premium, handling renewals, MTAs, claims and general advice as well as a bit of incoming new business, reporting to the Senior Account Handler here. You will be required to assist clients when they have questions about or need to make amendments to their cover, or when they need to make a claim and to maintain appropriate, regular contact with existing customers to ensure their insurance requirements continue to be met. In order to be considered for this role, you will need to have at least 1-2 years commercial insurance broking experience gained in a broking role, handling a range of commercial risks. You will also need to be educated to GCSEs or equivalent, supported with a minimum of 5 grades C or above including English and Mathematics. Those who currently hold the Cert CII qualification and are prepared to undertake the Dip CII studies are also highly sought after. Experience of using Acturis would also be a bonus! On offer is a starting salary of £25-30,000 depending on experience and they are based in modern open-planned offices with plenty of parking available!
