Transport Manager Annual Salary: £55k - £60k plus 4% bonus Location: Portbury, Bristol Job Type: Full-time My client is seeking a highly experienced Transport Manager to join the team at their main distribution hub in Portbury. This senior role is pivotal in supporting their ambitious growth plans and requires a leader with the energy and track record to deliver first-class service. With a responsibility for a team of over 50, the Transport Manager will play a crucial role in managing and optimising extensive distribution operations. Day-to-day of the role: Ensure full implementation of safety, health, environment, quality, and compliance requirements. Conduct vehicle and personal injury accident investigations. Manage drivers' tachograph records and infringements, and perform driver licensing and DCPC quarterly checks Ensure compliance with legal and health and safety procedures, and improve the safety culture. Benchmark depot performance, promote best practices, and drive continual improvements. Develop links with manufacturers to ensure vehicle technology advancements are optimised. Lead and motivate the team to exceed objectives and KPIs, and develop potential in line with business needs. Analyse operational data to make adjustments and identify improvement opportunities. Collaborate with the Distribution Team to manage breakdowns and delays efficiently. Investigate and resolve customer queries/complaints professionally. Conduct weekly meetings to discuss costs, team performance, service, and operations. Review and maintain standard operating procedures. Participate in on-call duties to handle out-of-hours calls. Required Skills & Qualifications: Customer service experience from a 3PL or similar background. Experience managing a driver workforce, including disciplinary and absence management. Transport Manager's Certificate of Professional Competence. Full understanding of Working Time Directive, Drivers Hours, and Operators licensing compliance. Experience with routing and tracking applications. Desirable: Experience in a complex network operational environment and managing significant budgets. Working knowledge of SAP or equivalent MRP systems is advantageous. Personal Qualities: Demonstrates high standards in housekeeping, quality, and health and safety. Analytical and fact-based approach with a good understanding of performance statistics. Persuasive communication skills with the ability to lead and influence.
