Transport Manager - Plymouth Salary c£49k, plus excellent benefitsWe are looking for an experienced Transport Manager for our Plymouth site. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the management team, leading, motivating, and managing staff and drivers to execute delivery schedules for the distribution of gas supplies.Key Responsibilities: Manage checks and controls to uphold fleet safety and reliability, collaborating closely with vehicle maintenance service providers to minimize downtime.Understand and implement relevant legislation and standards, liaise with internal specialists and regulatory authorities, and continuously improve safety performance.Maintain strict security of property and products, including serving as an emergency call-out key holder and attending call-outs when required.Utilise working knowledge of relevant legislation, safety, quality procedures, and site operating instructions.Deliver regular company briefings on Safety and Performance to all employees.Ensure sites under your control are maintained in line with company policies and external regulatory authorities.Budgeting and Expenditure:Work with senior management to prepare budgets and manage expenditure within specified parameters.Prioritise the customer in decision-making processes and ensure employees are trained to deliver excellent customer service in all areas of the cylinder and bulk business.Lead the dispatching and scheduling functions for the area, ensuring all planned delivery schedules consider driver and vehicle compliance with relevant transport regulations.Coach, mentor, and plan appropriate training and development for all staff and drivers.Conduct performance reviews in line with company procedures to create a robust and efficient operation that meets financial targets and KPIs. We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications and experience: Proven skills in people management and leadership.Ability to organize resources according to customer needs and company service levels through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).Sound working knowledge of current transport regulations and directives.Ideally, a minimum of 3 years' experience at management or supervisory level in a service-oriented environment, with financial experience preferred.Knowledge of current employment legislation.ADR certificate or experience with hazardous goods is preferred.Formal safety qualification preferred (e.g., IOSHH, NEBOSH).Must Possession of a Transport Management CPC, Essential.Ability to use company software packages, including TrakM8, Trutac Paragon, and SAP, to enhance service delivery, improve driver performance, and provide the best possible customer experience. Based at our Head Office in Macclesfield. Mon - Fri 9am 6pm with occasional weekend cover Assistant Transport Manager to coordinate the 50 Drivers nationwide, this will also be overseeing a small team of Logistics Planners and Coordinators. Support and manage the day-to-day operations of the transport function within the SBF Group Work closely with two direct reports in the transport fleet and transport planning teams Liaise with the driver training team for training and development of all new and existing drivers Ensure all H&S requirements are met for the drivers Oversee management of driver hours within UK regulation Working closely with the Talent Team??to recruit new drivers to ensure the capacity is maintained in the driving team Create a proactive continuous improvement culture within the team to ensure the team is operating as efficiently and is always striving to make things?better' Oversee the daily operation of Transport planning team Ensure the Vehicle fleet is managed to ensure vehicles are always available. Manage the team to deliver against key financial and performance-related local and national targets ensuring deadlines are met Work closely with the SMT to provide data, insight and support help deliver transport optimisation and improvement projects Ensuring all Legal, Maintenance, UK & EU Driving Regulations, and Operational procedures are always adhered to, ensuring the safety of self and others. Support the delivery of the Business Plan - setting and achieving specific measurable targets for the team. Maximise productivity and manage resources in order to reduce costs. Effectively communicating operational and business plans and changes to all colleagues, supporting the implementation of the communications plan.
