Based in Avonmouth, Bristol - Plant-Ex Ingredients Ltd in an international company specialising in the manufacture of Natural Food Ingredient Solutions, supplying across the globe either directly through our own facilities or through a number of selected distribution partners. We specialise in spray drying food colourings and flavours as well as production of liquid food colours, flavours and extracts. We are looking for Senior Applications Technologist to join the team. Key Objectives of the Role is to lead reactive and proactive projects for food and beverage applications to showcase our ingredients and support customers in the use of our flavouring and colouring ingredients. You will work closely with the technical product teams across the different portfolios to build a comprehensive and descriptive product library whilst actively seeking out gaps in our offerings and opportunities to innovate new products. Collaborating with technical product teams to trial ingredients in customer application and to evaluate colour and flavour match projects. Be able to make appropriate product selections for the customer sample and project requests and testing in various application formats considering customer recipe and processes. Working closely with marketing and commercial teams to develop application recipes and preparing samples for customer presentations as well as trialling different ingredients in customer recipes to test efficacy. Keeping up to date with food and beverage trends and legislation is essential for this role and allows for collaborative working with the marketing and technical teams. Salary range is broad, depending on qualifications and experience. We will consider both full-time (40 hours per week) and part-time. Main responsibilities Profiling existing and new flavours into a library Creating application recipes and samples for customer presentations Testing suitability of ingredients and making dosage recommendations Supporting customers with their ingredient challenges and trialling ingredients to reach their product development goals Working closely with commercial and marketing to develop new innovative flavour concepts for trend presentations Attend sensory sessions with the wider team to evaluate ongoing projects Upkeep of the applications lab Making up of food and beverage application samples for customer innovation sessions Knowledge, experience, and skills required Good attention to detail and a creative mindset Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and industry trends At least 3 years experience working within the food / beverage industry in a technical discipline, experience of working with colours and flavours would be an added bonus Understanding of how food / beverage products are formulated and produced on industrial scale Food science qualification or similar discipline is desirable but not essential Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year No Agencies please.
