Elevation Engineering & Manufacturing's Skilled Shop Floor Team have been exclusively retained to manage a recruitment campaign for our client, Orchid Orthopedic, based in the heart of Sheffield's manufacturing community. Orchid Orthopedic Solutions is a worldwide leader in design and manufacturing for the orthopedic and medical device markets, including joint reconstruction, spine, trauma, sports medicine, extremities and dental. With 10 world-class facilities located around the globe, Orchid continues to provide others an opportunity to live longer, more active lives through their products and services. Their Sheffield facility, based off the Sheffield Parkway, comprises a Forge, Foundry, and CNC Machining and Finishing processes. It employs approximately 300 people and focuses on joint reconstruction, in particular knee and hip joints. Although experience in these areas would be an advantage, they are also looking for enthusiastic individuals from other industries who may have transferrable skills relevant to the role. They are looking for individuals with experience or a desire to work in the following role; Forge Press Operative Hours: 39 hours per week Working Hours: 3 shift pattern (mornings/afternoons and nights) Hourly Rate: £11.84ph Shift allowance Overtime: Paid at time and after 39 hours Reporting to the Forge Manager will be responsible for: Forging using knowledge of press controls and the setting of press tools to produce accurate and consistent products. Conversant with the safe operation of furnaces, including the setting of digital controls. Inspect forging for defects and take corrective action where required. Correct identification of raw materials and separation of scrap material. Following instructions of works orders and drawings. All ancillary operations connected with the production including: o Saw operation o Material movement o Inter-stage linishing o Shotblasting o Straightening o Glassing o Housekeeping o Other general duties Experience: Work as part of a team, adopting a positive attitude to both work and colleagues, to achieve the required production targets and output, including the need to work outside normal working hours. Be able to complete all paperwork associated with both production and timekeeping. Willingness to be trained to suit company requirements. Ensure all H&S rules are adhered to and maintain a safe environment, both in relation to your own work area and that of the factory. Maintain a clean, tidy work environment always. Adhere to all process work instructions, customer specifications, quality policy and company directives. Maintain good time keeping and attendance. Display a flexible attitude to work being prepared to transfer to other areas as the work dictates. Flexibility to work shifts, w3hich may include nights. A good understand and able to interpret drawings and use measuring equipment. Training can be provided, although experience is welcomed. What you will be doing: Perform sheet metal work activities on fabricated parts, including utilizing assembly fixtures, abrading, drilling, deburring, fitting inserts, and general sheet metal work activities. Maintain work area, equipment, and records to be audit-ready. Ensure Autonomous maintenance checks are completed. Understand and interpret Customer Specifications and Technical drawings. Highlight/report any non-conforming parts throughout the process. Use the correct tools and equipment for the operation or work. About You: Sheet metal work experience across a broad range of products. Experience in dressing and finishing fabricated parts. Experience in Assembly tooling, drilling, marking out, fitting inserts, and riveting. Experience in Stretch Form, brake pressing, Guillotine, and Bandsaw. Basic understanding of lean principles (5S). Experience in working to production targets. Quality conscious. Able to work accurately in a busy environment. Ability to understand and interpret drawings. Excellent teamwork ethic. Excellent time management and organisational skills. Ability to do the required shift pattern (Days & Afternoons) What's in it for you?
