C.£60k Bonus Specialist Engineering firm with 30 year trading history and a leading position within the Wind Tunnel / Airflow Testing Solutions marketplace seek Mechanical Engineer to join the business and play a lead role within the team. With the majority of their clients operating within the Aerospace, Motorsport and Defence sectors the company delivers bespoke engineering solutions to clients across the globe. A wide range of wind / air flow testing solutions are offered within their product range with each actual delivery being bespoke in nature. The Mechanical Engineer / Aerospace Engineer will work in a lead capacity and within the full life cycle. This will require the design of the solution using 3D CAE tools such as Solidworks, 3D CAD, CATIA, Unigraphix/UG NX, Inventor etc, liaison with the fabricators and then the subsequent (hands-on) build and assembly of the systems either in the company's factory environment and/or onsite anywhere in the world. You will plan complex engineering projects, design solutions / oversee solutions designed by the team, play a key role in the assembly and installation but also solve problems as they arise and advise on appropriate methods and solutions to improve the end product. This will require both leadership of the team, engagement with senior management, project management capability as well as engagement with customers within some of the worlds' leading organisations within the Aerospace, Automotive, Motorsport and Defence sectors. We are searching for an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Aerospace Engineer who possesses many years' experience in the full life cycle of aeronautical / motion control / electromechanical engineering fields where you will have gained experience in in 2D and 3D CAE with either Solidworks, 3D CAD, CATIA, Unigraphix/UG NX, Inventor etc. You will be a hands-on Engineer with experience of machined components to tight tolerances; large, welded fabrications. You will be comfortable with the concepts of FEA (Finite Element Analysis). Leadership, Project Management, Client Engagement and an overall keen eye for detail will all be expected and in return you will have the opportunity to deliver first class systems for some of the world's leading companies. Excellent communication skills will be required. SC clearance required/to be undertaken on appointment. Description Plan, conduct and report activities to demonstrate compliance of SGB cabin interior products to FAA and EASA CS/FAR Part 25, ETSO and aircraft OEM requirements, delivering on time and in full to meet programme schedule. Perform structural assessment/analysis of seat and seat and furniture assembly geometries to identify and define the appropriate structural substantiation strategy for the assembly, in order to ensure structural integrity during emergency landing conditions. Review and validate the FE analysis results with manual calculations where applicable to ensure accurate representation of the design and interface loads. Approve stress analysis (FEA) results for use in the generation of Interface load reports in accordance with aircraft interface load allowables. Coordinate internally with the stress team to ensure accurate representation of the FE analysis models. Coordinate externally with the airframe OEM to ensure a clear understanding of the aircraft load allowables, and aircraft installation requirements (Static, dynamic, abuse, cyclic if any). Resolve issues/conflicts to ensure full alignment of certification requirements. Compile and check test plans, test reports and other documents necessary to define, analyse and test the structural substantiation of assemblies (Dynamic, Static and Abuse/cyclic). Plan, organise and conduct development and certification tests to demonstrate compliance of products relating to specific programme(s) to regulatory and aircraft OEM requirements. Witness tests for demonstrating regulatory structural compliance (Dynamic, Static) and non-regulatory tests (Cyclic, Abuse, Environmental) relating to specific assigned programme(s). Approve non-regulatory tests (Cyclic, Abuse, Environmental) relating to specific assigned programme(s). Prepare data packages for submittal to regulators and aircraft OEMs in support of applications for EASA ETSO, STC and aircraft TC approval. Plan, organise and participate in compliance inspections / demonstrations to show compliance of specific products to regulations, accepted means of compliance and guidance material. Advise other business functions on certification issues throughout the design and development phases to achieve a safe and reliable product. Advise design engineering team on certification criteria to be included on production drawings. Review and approve engineering drawings to ensure design meets regulatory certification requirements, guidance and best practices. Review and approve engineering change requests for certification making major/minor change determination in line with EASA regulations. Represent the certification department at meetings with customers, installers and regulatory authorities (ITCM, PDR, CDR, FAI). Liaise externally with authorities, regulatory bodies and airframe manufacturers on certification issues and coordinate effective resolution to such issues. Profile Qualified to a minimum of degree level in a mechanical, aerospace or structural engineering discipline. Alternatively a HNC/HND or an equivalent qualification in a mechanical, aerospace or structural engineering discipline with a demonstrable knowledge of certification of aircraft interiors structures.
