Building Safety & Compliance Manager Permanent Position East London Up to £60,000 per annum plus benefits Housing Sector Role Overview Take charge of the Building Safety and Compliance service for a Housing organisation based in East London, oversee a growing portfolio of residential projects in Newham and surrounding areas. As Building Safety & Compliance Manager you ensure all homes meet all Building and Fire Safety Regulations, conduct timely inspections, and manage contracts to uphold the highest safety standards for residents. Key Responsibilities Lead services across our housing portfolio, acting as the key figure for Building Safety regulations and legislation. Ensure all buildings meet health and safety standards, covering residential, commercial properties, and offices. Spearhead our adoption of the new Building Safety regime and develop fire safety strategies for each building. Initiate, monitor, and audit a comprehensive inspection programme. Maintain detailed compliance records and produce regular performance reports. Advise the Executive and Board on sector developments and regulations. Oversee contractors and service contracts, ensuring satisfactory completion and addressing deficiencies. Prepare tender documents for maintenance management contracts. Enhance our Asset Management systems for effective Building Safety oversight. Collaborate with the finance team on budgeting and forecasting. Coordinate with the new homes team on future developments and project handovers. Implement efficient procurement practices for value maximisation. Handle emergencies and urgent issues promptly. Develop annual budgets and assist in service charge forecasts. Lead on all health and safety aspects within Housing portfolio Ensure timely raising of works orders and manage follow-up actions. Maintain clear, detailed records to ensure a 'Golden thread' of data. Engage with residents on issues affecting their homes. Work closely with the Asset & Facilities Manager to meet all service requirements. Knowledge and Experience Over 5 years in Building/Fire safety and compliance in residential management. Qualifications in Construction, Project Management, or Building Safety. Strong grasp of current and future Building Safety requirements. Excellent organisational skills from a dynamic Property Management background. Proven track record in delivering high-quality service and customer satisfaction.
