We are currently recruiting for a Hotspot Data Analyst to work for Lincolnshire Police at their headquarters in Nettleham. You would be working Monday to Friday, 37 hours a week, working 08.30-16.30 Mon/Thur and 08.30-16.0 Friday with an element of Hybrid working. This is temporary ongoing position until March 2025 PLEASE NOTE DUE TO POLICE VETTING CRITERIA YOU MUST HAVE RESIDED WITHIN THE UK CONTINUOUSLY FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION. UNFORTUNATELY ANYTHING LESS THAN THIS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. JOB PURPOSE AND SCOPE: The role is Government funded, via the Home Office, as part of its Anti-social Behaviour (ASB) action plan and includes an element of violence reduction within a given location. The intention of the initiative is to increase uniformed presence within affected communities. Undertake research and analytical work, with the aim of assisting the OPCC and Lincolnshire Police in their hotspot decision making with the aim of making Lincolnshire the safest place to live, work and visit. Collate data to produce evidence based reports that help identify and explain hotspot issues within the county, and work with the leadership team to develop guidance to inform patrolling plans. It is expected that the Hotspot Analyst will always demonstrate the force values and work towards supporting delivery of the hotspot action plan. You will be expected to work with public sector, councils, and policing partners to help deliver the action plan. All staff involved in carrying out functions in this role will do so in accordance with the principles of the Code of Ethics. The aim of the Code of Ethics is to support each member of the policing profession to deliver the highest professional standards in their service to the public. CORE WORK AREAS: Provide analytical support in response to Home Office requirements by: - Receiving, reading and collating information received from various sources and applying analytical techniques related to Lincolnshire crime data, data generated from the geo-location application, to produce: Provide a single data monthly returns for total aggregate patrol hours, arrests, total stop and searches recorded, and total ASB powers recorded in hot spot areas [month]. Provide patrol-level data comprising of date, hotspot and time (start and finish) for each patrol as well as the number of police, PCSOs, partners on each patrol and type of main partner [quarterly]. Provide counts of ASB incidents (collected as part of the programme) and crimes (collected separately via the ADR) in the hotspots by day and by hotspot [quarterly]. Provide the total aggregate number of weapons taken off the streets [quarterly], funded by the programme. To work towards continuous improvement of the patrolling plan with Lincolnshire. Provide oral/written briefings to senior officers and officials to assist on strategic decision making. Liaise with other officers and outside bodies regarding developments in policing. Analyse information from computerised and manual source of records, relating to policing activities, law enforcement matters extending to interdependent issues linked with Socio Economic and Demographic impact Identify information gaps and make recommendations for obtaining further information. Present the results of analysis to programme or project leads. Give presentations to senior officers and officials, Home Office representatives, police personnel and other interested parties, as appropriate, to illustrate the benefits of analysis and the techniques used to produce information Liaise regularly with other analysts to identify trends and patterns in overall demand and the way in which we deal with this. Using trend and pattern data on incoming demand, continually review and adjust the warden model to ensure we have the right people in at the right times to manage this in line with Home Office expectations Maintain a current awareness of developments within the Policing environment and wider impactive areas including Political, Environmental, Scientific, Academic Research, Technical, Economic, Legal, or Organisational. Qualifications/Training Educated to degree standard or equivalent or experience in a similar role Demonstrates experience of working under pressure and meeting deadlines Proven competence in using IT applications to input and extract data Demonstrates experience in the preparation, presentation, and explanation of information Demonstrates experience in the application of analytical techniques Experience in the research of information from a variety of sources. Ability to develop strong working relationships with members of staff at all levels Communicates effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing avoiding jargon Proficient and familiarity with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel. Demonstrates lateral vision and a well-developed logical process for solving problems, avoiding assumptions Demonstrates skills/knowledge of planning, co-ordinating and prioritising including the ability to plan projects Able to attend the OPCC office at least once a week.
