About the Role: Our client has exciting opportunities for 2 Mortgage Underwriting Assistants to join their growing Operations department. This is a great opportunity for a professional Administrator to join the mortgage industry. This role will involve supporting the Underwriting team by carrying out administration tasks in a professional and efficient manner, whilst delivering a high level of customer to service to customers, intermediaries and valuers. Responsibilities: Work to agreed objectives, services standards and deliverables Print mortgage offers / revised mortgage offers, collating and packing for posting Allocate emails to the case files within the mortgage origination system Manually input valuation report data onto mortgage origination system Add reinspection reports to case files in mortgage origination system Manage external relationship with external printing companies to always ensure sufficient stock levels of underwriting literature and ensure this is documented in line with process Chase Post Valuation Query responses and booking updates Complete and review Limited Company Searches Manage document allocation for portfolio customers Provide telephone support answering overflow calls during busy times and to cover absence Contribute suggestions for improvements to processes to enhance service and efficiency Apply all aspects of the desired consumer outcomes of Treating the Customer Fairly (TCF) Take responsibility for your own learning and development Adhere to internal/external compliance, credit review and audit requirements Deal with queries and enquiries effectively, accurately, and professionally, delivering excellent customer service Develop positive working relationships with colleagues All other associated duties and responsibilities and carry out any tasks as required by management Experience required: Strong experience in administration, gained ideally within the financial services sector, but other sector experience can be considered. The successful candidate will be providing vital support to all areas of the business, from criteria, property queries, title issues, tracing customers, and Suspicious Activity Reports to fraud. You will be a point of referral on complex cases from around the business, as to whether the company can consider an application. To accurately analyse and understand key elements of all mortgage applications, whilst ensuring adherence to all policies or where the case is of good quality but outside policy recommend to our funders as an exception for all approval. To assist in maintaining and updating the lending policy, by researching, and recommending policy changes Develop and maintain cooperative relationships between all internal stakeholders, including Underwriting and Sales teams, and investigate all referrals professionally. Work Fraud systems such as CIFAS, SIRA & Hunter to mitigate potential losses To investigate suspicious alerts identified by fraud prevention systems. Exercise personal lending discretion when assessing exceptions. Carrying out Broker reviews, liaising with sales before removal of a Broker To assist in preparing Management Reports, ensuring they are prepared in time for Exco or Credit Committee meetings Experience required for the position of Credit Underwriter Current or previous experience working within the mortgage industry with a strong mortgage underwriting background, preferably with at least 5 years of underwriting experience and having currently or previously held a mandate. Proven ability to exercise good commercial and professional judgment.
