Role: Exploration Geologist Contract: Fixed term contract for 12 months Salary: Up to £30K Location: Dorset - Wareham Hours: 7:30pm-3:30pm M-F Are you a Geologist passioned about Mining? What about an opportunity to work in the Dorset countryside on an exploration project for Imerys? The project: The activities take place in two areas; Dorset and South Devon around Wareham and Newton Abbot. There are eight operational mines currently across the two areas. Exploration for new Ball Clay minerals is ongoing annually as reserves are depleted. Your role: You will manage the upcoming 2024 Dorset Ball Clay exploration project, logging and sampling of drill core. Your focus will be primarily with the UK Ball Clays geology and mining area which extracts approximately 300k tonnes of ore and 2M tonnes of waste annually. Your responsibilities: The key aspect of your role is to manage the Dorset 2024 and future exploration projects. As our Geologist, you will assist in the digitisation of historical drilling records and propose and define future exploration campaigns in conjunction with the geology team. This will involve; Liaison with landowners, Pre and post site surveys, Contractor management, Safety compliance, Site supervision, Logging and sampling of drill core, Management of samples, Liaison with QC laboratory for testing, Validating assays and database management, Collaboration with the wider geology and mining team. Geology or exploration geology direct and relevant experience working in mining. environment for at least 2 years. Direct and relevant experience in project management and delivery on-time and on-budget. A comprehensive CPD record. Full driving licence. Excellent IT skills together with familiarisation of one of the major geological modelling software packages, preferably GEOVIA (Surpac) or Seequent (Leapfrog/ MXDeposit). A team player with the ability to develop and maintain relationships of mutual respect at all levels in a challenging working environment. Good leadership and motivation skills.
