We are recruiting for Specialist Biomedical Scientists to join our fast paced and dynamic Microbiology team.
This role is part of a team which provides an efficient and effective Microbiology service to two general hospitals (Southend University/Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital Trusts) and local GP community.
The Role
The postholder will be expected to be able to rotate through all areas of Microbiology as required, and to perform all designated duties in accordance with local working practices.
The microbiology partnership provides comprehensive microbiology services and specialist services to Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield, Solihull Hospital, and general practitioners throughout the area.
The microbiology laboratory is in partnership with University Hospitals Birmingham Trust (UHB).

Purpose of the role: As a Microbiologist, you will support clients in ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of their products through the management and coordination of laboratory outsourcing, sampling, interpretation of results and reporting.
As the Microbiology Technician, your primary focus will be to support the quality control and research and development efforts by ensuring the safety and efficacy of the medical devices.

You will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of product quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
This role will utilise your extensive microbiology skills and knowledge to oversee the work of the NCTC laboratories.
The post will involve the supervisory responsibility of team of microbiologists, planning and scheduling workloads, and ensuring the laboratory is managed in accordance with UKHSA, safety and quality procedures.
