An excellent full time and permanent opportunity has arisen for a gardener / groundskeeper with a passion for lawn care and garden maintenance to work within the beautiful gardens of a private estate in North Surrey. The private estate encompasses 13-acres of land, which includes a 9-acre modern garden designed by a renowned contemporary landscape and garden designer. The garden contains formal lawns with wild meadow grass sections and grass herbaceous borders. Set out geometrically, the garden also contains extensive hedging made up of Yew, Beech and Box, with a stream to one side of the garden and woodland / parkland on the other. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for the estate's lawn care, which equates to approximately 40% of the extensive grounds. Separated into wild meadow and high standard lawn, in addition the estate includes formal lawns up to a bowling green standard. You will be reporting into the head gardener and join him along with other team members as custodians of the grounds, working as part of the small gardening and maintenance team ensuring the lawns and garden are kept to the highest standards throughout the seasons, aligning with the estate owner's requirements. It will be the responsibility of the gardener / groundskeeper to ensure all turf care is maintained and well kept, including mowing lawns, treating, feeding, fertilising and when necessary, assisting the rest of the team with their duties. Both formal lawns are fully irrigated thus an understanding and knowledge of the maintenance and operation of irrigation systems would be beneficial. Duties will vary naturally throughout the seasons and will include leaf collection and clearing snow. Other responsibilities may include planting, watering, transplanting, controlling diseases, insects, and weeds. The ideal candidate will have had experience in all aspects of lawncare; could be from or working within a greenkeeping environment; a non-smoker with a keen eye for details, meticulous in the maintenance of high standards, taking pride in their work, reliable and able to work with complete discretion. The working hours would be Monday Friday 07:00 to 16:00 changing to 07:30 to 16:30 throughout the winter period. Included are two 30-minute breaks, at 09:30 and 13:00.
