Our client is a Dorking based precision engineering company. They manufacture and assemble components and electromechanical sub-assemblies for a range of test and calibration equipment. They are looking to take on a positive, all-rounder as a handyman to join their team on a part time basis (16 hours a week - negotiable) The role will be wide and varied incorporating, but not limited to. Cutting materials (metal bars/tubes etc) for the millers and turners to work with. Polishing, cleaning and de-burring machined items (hand files, bench grinders, polishers) Sorting out and stacking materials into an order, saving time when assembly team select them to work on. Help out on mechanical depts hen busy and in need of extra assistance (working from schematics, basic hand tools and populating/connecting components in control boxes/panels). Collecting stock and shuttling between sites (5 min apart) in company van (clean license required). Moving stock around warehouse with hand pallet trucks (or forklift if you have a license) General warehouse maintenance tasks (repainting floors, keeping workspaces lean and tidy, picking materials for machinists) Any other general tasks essential for the smooth, efficient and safe running of a busy factory. You will need to have a solid mechanical and assembly understanding (even if it is from playing with Meccano, doing your own house repairs/DIY, building remote control cars etc), have a positive attitude and flexibility to get involved in any tasks set out to assist the factory. Our client are a manufacturer of articulated platforms, arms and robotic controllers mainly used within the video and broadcast industries. They have a requirement for an experienced fitter and machine operator to work in their busy machine shop to manufacture and assemble mechanical sections and sub-assemblies of their products. Based just north of East Grinstead, operating their manual mills and lathes, you will be working from mechanical drawings, producing, repairing and upgrading assemblies and sub-assemblies as required. You will already have a proven background of working in a machine shop environment. of working with precision engineering machinery (lathes and mills), have an attention to detail and working to tight tolerances. You will have a solid understanding health and safety requirements of working within a machining industry, ideally with formal training/certificates to support this, and have the ability to work autonomously, demonstrating common sense and strong work ethics.
