Maintenance Technician R&D Reporting to: Technical Services Manager Department: Bournville/Cadbury's, FM Mechanical Location: Birmingham Shifts Monday to Friday 8:30am 4:30pm Job description: Repairing and Maintaining Mechanical Equipment Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily but not necessarily exclusively based on mechanical principles. Identifying potential failure or deterioration of Machinery and Equipment. Determine cause of potential failure or performance deterioration, and either complete remedial work during shift or brief Manager or Supervisor on issue, cause and recommended solution. Remove and replace worn components. Pipe fitting and Plumbing techniques to include the assembly and installation of pipe sections, fittings and fixtures for Steam, Hot and cold water systems, Heating systems, Sprinkler systems, Drains and Drainage systems, Industrial production and processing systems. Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems. Carry out Preventative Maintenance tasks as scheduled to the required standard. Carry out monitoring, repairs, fault diagnosis & inspection of key equipment such as Cooling Towers, Pressure systems, Production machinery and equipment, etc. to keep Client compliant with legislation. Use manuals and failure history to develop preventative tasks. Prevent losses (equipment damage), accidents or injuries through use or maintenance of equipment. Conduct continuous Equipment observation, identifying potential safety risks and taking necessary actions to remove the hazard. Conduct risk assessment prior to any maintenance work and ensure conclusions are implemented prior to start of work to remove hazards. Ensure equipment is handed back to production in 100% safe condition. Be aware of incident reports and work with operational managers to promptly implement solutions to prevent re-occurrence. Complete corrective actions during shift to return equipment to standard output, quality and waste levels. Respond immediately to equipment failures during your shift and while on Call. Problem solving faults and breakdowns on Steam Boilers. Effect the solution, and report on nature of fault, cause and solution via computerised maintenance system. Identify, recommend and implement Equipment and process improvements. Identify opportunities to reduce the time taken for activities and develop and recommend solutions to improve the time taken. Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair, according to specifications. Inspect, examine, or test installed systems or pipe lines, using pressure gauge, observation, or other methods. Attach pipes to walls, structures, or fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment. Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, or related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, or threading joints. Fabricate, assemble, or disassemble manufactured products by hand. Updating and Using Relevant Knowledge Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job. Training and Teaching Others. Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. Join us. JOB PURPOSE: As a Rectifier in the Trim & Final / End of Line area you will be responsible for the rectification and fitting of components in various stages of off tracks assembly. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Rectification: Carry out rectification work in line with the process and standards required using the EASE system. Carry out off track shortage fitting as required to the VIS Standards. Validate reworks and drive back concerns to tech stations using BIS structure. Repair/rectify any concerns picked up from audit. Input repair actions into the Flags system and action corrective measures and control. Carry out TPM and Lean activities. Provide training for local zone build technicians. Adhere to company safety, housekeeping, and discipline standards. Storage of controlled substances / components safely in correct location(s). Support quality, productivity, process improvements initiatives e.g., Kaizen, 6 Sigma and PPS initiatives. QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE: Completion of an appropriate automotive apprenticeship in a relevant discipline (city & guilds level 2 or equivalent) is desirable. Previous experience of working within the automotive industry is essential. Working knowledge of all stages of build required. Manual dexterity, mechanical/quality aptitude. Can do attitude, determination to see the task through to completion at the right quality level. Ability to work using own initiative. The ability to read, interpret and work to engineering circuit drawings /process sheets is essential. This is a role that is track tied and requires the incumbent to be on their feet for the entirety of the shift. Flexibility to work shift patterns, overtime, weekends to achieve production targets. Full UK Driving Licence. Successful candidates will be required to support/work in other areas as may be necessary. Offered on a Fixed-Term Contract basis until 31st Dec 2024. Volume protection contractual overtime arrangements are in place to ensure required production demands can be met. Stand up and Stand down balances are managed as part of each employees Working Time Account (WTA). All production employees are required to align with fixed holidays throughout the year in line with production shutdowns.
