A manufacturer of Steel products supplied to local authorities and national highways, is now seeking a Purchasing Manager to take control of all Purchasing and Supply Chain activities at their facility in Walsall. The company has been operating for over 50 years and has several facilities across the black country. Over the years the business has been holding steady, but in the last few years, turnover has doubled, generating the need for some key hires to make improvements and bring the company into the 21st century with new systems, processes, and modern ways of working and driving down costs. Reporting to the newly appointed Managing Director, you will ensure this facility can cope with the growth it is experiencing. You will be tasked with conducting a full end-to-end review of their supply chain and purchasing function. You will implement purchasing systems and manage the efficient control of site inventory. Essentially this is a blank canvass for someone to come into the business that understands what 'good' looks like. You will make a real impact not only driving change and efficiency but saving money for the business further aiding financial stability. Some of the main responsibilities of this Purchasing Manager are listed below: The conductor of their Supply Chain orchestra:Overseeing the entire Supply Chain process from Supplier Selection and Supplier Management, Inventory Management, Purchasing systems ensuring the business has everything in place to meet all production targets. A team player and leader:Motivating and empowering your team to achieve peak performance and fostering a collaborative spirit. A problem-solving powerhouse: Conduct a full Supply Chain review, identifying areas for improvement, analysing data, and implementing solutions to optimise efficiency and cost savings. A systems champion:Experienced in implementing and using MRP systems, this business does not have one but needs one in place. The ideal Purchasing Manager will have: 5 years of experience as a Supply Chain Manager or Purchasing Manager in a manufacturing environment. A proven track record of driving change. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A commitment to getting under the skin of everything Supply Chain and making improvements.
