The Marketing & Development Assistant role is a new one which has been introduced to support the work of the Head of Marketing in delivering the school's marketing strategy and the Director of Development with Alumni relations and development administration. An excellent communicator and experienced social media user, the Marketing & Development Assistant will be happy to assist in a wide variety of tasks and activities to promote the school's unique ethos. PLEASE NOTE: Our client is happy to consider applicants wishing to apply for the full-time role but will also consider applications from candidates wishing to work part-time as a job-share, estimated as being 3 days per week for a Marketing Assistant and 2 days per week for a Development Assistant. Specific Responsibilities Below are examples of some of the duties which will fall to the Marketing & Development Assistant: Marketing Website content updates, including writing copy, editing, uploading images and creating feature content blocks Assist in the implementation of SEO recommendations Maintain the catalogue of key words, hashtags, alt attributes and meta data tags for use across the website and social media to promote SEO Production, editing and storage of photography and video content Assist in the layout of publications using the Adobe Creative Suite Proofreading Creation of newsletters Maintenance of mailing lists and updates to contact details Assist in the production of direct mailers Draft social media content working to the school's social media content plan Assisting in the gathering and writing of copy for publications, including interview staff contributors Regular analysis of competitors, their digital marketing presence and messaging and tactics Development Monitoring of the alumni email inbox and triaging replies Alumni database administration Assisting in the organisation and administration for alumni events Creation of newsletters Administrative support to the Director of Development It is important to note that as this role is new, the specific duties which fall to the Marketing & Development Assistant may be subject to change, as the school implements and reviews the marketing and development strategies. As a result, the successful applicant will demonstrate a willingness to be flexible and adaptable. Person Specification The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate some or all of the following: Proven experience in a communications and digital marketing role is essential Previous experience in school admissions and marketing and a recognised marketing or social media qualification will be an advantage Excellent writing skills, with a good command of written and spoken English and grammar, and the ability to proofread with an exceptional attention to detail Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to promote the ethos of the school to all enquirers and uphold the school's brand A detailed understanding of social and digital media, content creation and scheduling tools is desirable as is an interest in continually learning about new marketing and social media trends Experience of implementing SEO recommendations A portfolio of marketing communications and digital marketing work The ability to think creatively and generate new, varied and interesting content The ability to identify the audience and tailor communications which will attract the target market A genuine commitment to education and an understanding of parents' feelings and concerns when they are considering a school for their child Proficient use of IT (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, Word and Excel in particular) and the ability to learn to use new software The ability to work independently and in close co-operation with others in a team The ability to work within tight deadlines Versatile, dynamic, and flexible with a 'can-do' attitude Resilient and able to cope with the rigours of a busy department The ability to stay calm under pressure The discretion, sensitivity and diplomacy to deal appropriately with confidential information regarding children and families A working knowledge of GDPR and its implementation in marketing and development activities To apply for the role of Marketing & Development Assistant, please send a covering letter together with a copy of your CV in MS Word.
