Stress Engineer Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire Contract details: 6 months (inside IR35), 37 hours per week Hourly rate: £39.55 via an Umbrella Company The Opportunity Belcan Workforce Solutions are seeking experienced Stress Engineers to join our Space & Defence client's team in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. Join the Stress team and be rewarded with watching your work launched into space! As part of the role, you will use Nastran, MathCAD and Hypermesh to demonstrate that the structural design meets its strength and stiffness requirements. There will be a great team environment where you will participate in team discussions and reviews to achieve an efficient design to assist the lead stress engineer to achieve completion of these exciting projects. Day to Day Responsibilities As a Stress Engineer your responsibilities will include identifying all strength and stiffness requirements and ensuring that they are valid, performing all structural analysis necessary to ensure that all strength and stiffness requirements are met with a minimum mass design, and ensuring that the design incorporates all features necessary to meet the strength and stiffness requirements. You will also provide a detailed definition of all structural testing required to verify that the strength and stiffness requirements are met, monitor these tests, and write a test assessment report that demonstrates that requirements have been met and that the pre-test analysis was of sufficient accuracy. Skills and Experience You must already be a qualified Stress Engineer with significant relevant experience, proficiency in using external and internal software tools, and a good understanding of analysis techniques and methods for lightweight structures strength and stiffness prediction. An appreciation of real costs involved in the various methods and tools used, and experience in MS Office, MSC Nastran and knowledge of MathCAD, Hypermesh are desirable.
