The role holder works within the Maintenance Unit of Estate Management to ensure that building services are maintained to a high standard, comply with regulations, are safe and that emergencies are dealt with promptly.
Purpose of the role
Our current operational estate (buildings used for teaching, research, and administrative activities) is currently valued at £3 billion (Insurance Replacement Cost) and its broad and complex nature presents many demanding challenges, for example some buildings are 800 years old, Grade I Listed and protected by English Heritage, whilst others are new with highly sustainable building fabrics and buildings management systems.
We are currently looking for Grounds Maintenance Operative/Mobile Caretaker for our client, the role is a full time role, on a permanent basis.
Relevant backgrounds would be a background in caretaking, cleaning, ground maintenance, landscape gardening, or similar, this would be advantageous however not essential.
Our client would ideally like someone with experience in this type of role, however they are willing to consider candidates with no experience previous should they possess the right attitude to both the work and learning the duties involved.

Ideally multi-skilled, although Technicians with an Electrical or Mechanical focus will also be considered, to undertake planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across two Cambridge based sites.
You will be working in a team of fellow Engineers and Technicians looking after all plant systems and services and may also need to supervise external service providers and contractors as required.
Working as part of a multi-skilled team, you will be responsible for carrying out day to day reactive and planned preventative maintenance tasks to ensure operational service and compliance.
