Overview of the role: The role of Legal Counsel is to ensure safeguarding and protection of all global legal aspects of our client's business interests, to include Global brand registrations, management and renewals Trademark infringement investigation and advice Completion and Legalisation of registration documents such as Power of Attorney, Certificates of Free Sale, Letters of authorisation Work with Technical department to ensure formulation registrations are managed in conjunction with Brand registrations Customer & suppler contracts, T&Cs, Exclusivity contracts Working with HR dept to ensure new employee legislation is effectively implemented. Any HR issues are dealt with accordingly Principal Accountabilities: Global Brand Registrations Currently our client have some 20 brand registrations across UK, EU, Middle East and LATAM (currently stored via Ragic). Portfolio needs managing, renewing. Oppositions need dealing with. Global Trademark watch needs applying. New applications are processed in a timely manner. Global applications should be, where ever possible, done directly with the Trademark office in country Trademark Infringements Working with NPD and Design to ensure to not infringe existing trademarks / Brand designs Ensuring infringing brands / designs from competitors are dealt with, and stopped, with urgency. This may involve working with Council / other authorities in other countries Legal documentation Completion and subsequent management of all legal documentation to include Power of attorney, Letters of Authorisation, Non Disclosure Agreements, Certificates of Free Sale, Exclusivity agreements Review incoming customer terms and contracts Coordinate the departments to ensure that all key stakeholders are aligned to customer T&Cs Occasional review of the Terms and Conditions (long and Short) Technical Work with Technical department to ensure formulation registrations are managed in conjunction with Brand registrations HR Working with HR dept to ensure new employee legislation is effectively implemented. The opportunity This is an exceptional opportunity for a Private Client Legal Adviser with particular court of protection experience to assist in the management of a busy caseload comprising of complex matters including: acquired brain injuries; mental health issues; learning difficulties and the elderly. The caseload consists of deputyship applications; disputed Lasting Powers of Attorney; lifetime gifting and advance decisions and Statutory Wills. These cases typically involve higher asset levels making it complex and varied work for a person with a keen eye for detail. The ideal person will have 5 years' post qualification advising in this area and will have some experience of responding to telephone enquiries from clients, supporting daily financial administration, making deputyship applications, preparing annual deputyship reports as well as producing financial reports and budgets. It is envisaged that this will be a full time role but we are always willing to consider different working patterns. We are looking for someone with ambition and drive to join our team.
