Responsibilities: Assist senior commodity operators in executing trades and managing commodity transactions. Handle letters of credit and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and procedures. Coordinate logistics and ensure timely delivery of commodities to clients. Monitor market trends and analyze data to support trading decisions. Maintain accurate records of transactions and inventory levels. Collaborate with internal teams to optimize trading strategies and enhance operational efficiency. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field. Strong analytical skills with a keen interest in the commodities market. Experience with letters of credit and knowledge of logistics procedures. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software. Prior experience in commodities trading or related field is a plus but not required. I am recruiting for a confident and enthusiastic Buyer that has experience within a purchasing environment ideally within the Engineering industry. The Ideal candidate for the Buyer role will be looking to grow and development within our well-established clients business. The successful Buyer will strive to make a significant contribution towards the business achieving its immediate and long-term goals. The key function of the Buyer is to ensure continuity of the inward supply of goods and services, when required, at the best prices possible. Responsibilities: Maintain an awareness of all materials in stock. Maintain an awareness of incoming materials and manufacturing requirements. Minimise stock holding, unless advantageous to our client. Place orders as required. Ensure that materials are as specified and meet the thresholds required. Ensure that materials are received on time in full. Provide timely feedback on any issues that will disrupt supply. Maintain contingency plans for the supply of key products and services in the event of the preferred supplier failing to supply. Ensure that price files, and all other files are updated each month or more often. Maintain an awareness in marketplace trends of key materials. Ensure that the prices paid by our client for products and services are inline or below market prices. Fully plan and prepare self for all key purchases and negotiate terms favourable to our client. Agree payment terms favourable to our client, Average payment days for total purchases should exceed average payment days for receipts. Build and continually update a data base of suppliers for each product and service, ensuring alternatives for each item. Build effective working relationships with each supplier. Develop a contact plan to meet with key contacts and seek to continually improve trading relationships and terms. Set key suppliers targets underlining the levels of service we expect from them. As far as possible, purchase products and services that do the least damage to the environment. The environmental credentials of any such products should be verifiable and possess the appropriate certification. Work closely with the Estimator and Technical Director, ensuring good communication and avoiding duplication of effort. Work closely with Sales, Manufacturing, and Quality Control colleagues re any changes to specification. Proactively seek and propose improvements that will impact positively on the purchasing function. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of estimating systems and practices and manufacturing processes. Ensure that all administration (Internal/External) is completed in full and on time. Maximise efficiency via good time management and minimise costs/wasted efforts. Continually improve relevant knowledge, competencies, and skills. Ensure that all information and systems are available to other designated personnel when required. Your new role The role of the Commodity Procurement Specialist will operate as a key member of Procurement team, reporting to the Procurement Manager. You will be conducting sourcing processes across a range of defined commodity groups, involving all relevant stakeholders. You will carry out the effective procurement of goods and services that support all Business Units across the organisation. You'll manage the Purchase to Pay process for a range of materials ensuring all requirements are in line with the company requirements. The role involves analysing spend and usage data to develop and implement procurement strategies across various commodities. The goal is to align with the organization's business objectives, engage stakeholders, and ensure whole life costing considerations. The procurement process includes creating appropriate documentation, evaluating supplier submissions, conducting negotiations, managing the purchase-to-pay process, and proactively monitoring supplier performance. What you'll need to succeed HND or equivalent in a relevant subject, and studying towards MCIPS or have 3 years' experience in commodity procurement. Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, actively seek valid information to address root causes of issues and efficiently deliver insightful management data. You excel in communication, relationship-building, organisation, self-awareness, attention to detail, and strategic thinking. You have experience of MS Dynamics or a similar ERP system and are proficient in Microsoft Office products. You have experience in either Chemicals, Logistics, Energy, Packaging, Warehousing, Facilities, Engineering, Capex, or PPE & Workwear commodities.
