Assistant Accountant Location: Cambridge Our Client, a reputable accountancy practice in Cambridge, seeks an Assistant Accountant to join their team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified ACA/ACCA professional to contribute to a diverse range of accounting services. Responsibilities: - Assist in delivering high-quality accounting services to a varied client base, including limited companies, LLPs, and sole traders. - Prepare management & statutory accounts, monitor budgets, and handle monthly bookkeeping and management accounting. - Manage VAT returns, balance sheet reconciliations, and the production of profit and loss sheets. - Maintain the general ledger, reconciling entries and preparing trial balances for accuracy. - Engage in personal tax work, such as self-assessment tax compliance, and prepare corporation tax computations and CT600 returns. - Collaborate on ad-hoc assignments directed by the Account Manager. Requirements: - Degree-educated in a relevant field. - Full/Part qualified ACA/ACCA with a strong foundation in accounts preparation and bookkeeping. - Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. - Excellent report and letter writing skills. Candidate Profile: - Minimum 4 years' experience in a similar practice-based role. - Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. - Self-motivated, capable of independent work and effective team collaboration. - Proven ability to handle tasks with high complexity, meeting tight deadlines. - Highly organised with acute attention to detail. - Capability to work autonomously, taking ownership of tasks. You will provide financial support to the business, completing daily financial reconciliations and postings to ensure all day to day and month end transactions are accounted for accurately and in a timely manner. The Assistant Accountant will have vast exposure to the workings of the Management Accounts as you assist in their preparation. Typical duties will include Accruals / Prepayments / Balance sheet reconciliation amongst other duties. If you have touch on similar duties this would be highly desirable. The aim of this role is to complete your studies and progress through the business over time.
