Maintenance Engineer Annual Salary: £33,000 - £34,000 Location: Blackwood Job Type: Full-time, Shift Rotation An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Electrical or Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a leading manufacturer. The role involves fault finding and corrective actions on all production equipment, as well as providing engineering and operational support to manufacturing processes. Day to Day of the Role: Conducting routine maintenance and testing on commercial and production equipment, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation. Responding to equipment faults and operational issues, diagnosing breakdown problems quickly and efficiently. Fitting new parts and ensuring equipment is working correctly after repairs or installations. Arranging specialist procurement of fixtures, fittings or components. Controlling maintenance tools, stores and equipment, and monitoring and controlling maintenance costs. Dealing with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs. Improving health and safety policies and procedures. Working with specialist equipment, such as programmable logic controllers (PLC), which control machinery on factory assembly lines. Writing maintenance strategies to help with installation and commissioning guidelines. Required Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience as an Electrical or Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. Strong understanding of engineering principles and mechanical systems. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the packaging industry. Familiarity with health and safety regulations. Ability to work on a 3-shift pattern rotation. This will include building and maintaining competitive, long-term partnerships whilst securing optimal cost, quality, and delivery times. Main Responsibilities Develop and implement procurement strategies and plans in line with company goals and objectives. Closely manage on time delivery of components to operations, work with S&OP planning process. Supply chain data management, date mining and report key KPIs on supply chain matrix. Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements to ensure favorable terms and conditions and the associated onboarding processes. Manage and maintain relationships with existing suppliers, monitoring their performance and addressing any issues that may arise. Progress and expediting deliveries from vendors/suppliers. Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, market conditions, and potential risks and opportunities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their requirements and provide procurement solutions that meet their needs. Purchases of raw materials, components, and other goods required. Lead vendor audits. Monitor inventory levels, track deliveries, and ensure on-time delivery of goods and services. Evaluate supplier performance and conduct regular performance reviews to ensure compliance with contractual agreements. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize procurement processes and reduce expenses. Person Specification Qualifications or Functional Experience At a minimum qualified to HNC level. Degree desirable. Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations (CIPS). Proven purchasing experience in a fast-paced engineering manufacturing environment. Membership of an appropriate purchasing professional body.
