Our client, a Major Operator is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join them. The role is for Joint Venture EV Charging hubs in the UK and Ireland. The position is based in London on an initial PAYE contract basis and is planned to go staff in the future. JOB DIMENSIONS The Financial Controller plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial health of the Company, managing financial processes and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This is a pivotal position supporting the Company in providing timely financial information with in-depth analysis across the organization and to the Shareholders. ACTIVITIES Analysis of the financial performance of investments and business operations: Proactively monitor and evaluate investment, post investment, revenue, margin, cost structure including fixed and variable costs, as well as asset management to identify opportunities for improvement and cost optimization. Collaborate with other departments within the Company, particularly commercial & delivery teams, collect business data for analysis, and to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making. Ensure the provision of accurate financial information to Company management for effective decision making and maintaining consistency throughout the submission process, highlighting key points, and actively participating in business reviews. Propose solutions or preventive measures for identified financial risks. Financial control and reporting: Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and financial internal controls to safeguard Company assets in respecting shareholders' guidelines and ensure strict adherence to them. Timely prepare and submit all required reportings to the shareholders, management (e.g. monthly reporting and business reviews). Meet month-end work deadlines and actively participate in the preparation of journals, revenue recognition validation, allocation of administrative overheads, analysis, and reconciliation of deltas in dashboards in line with the budget and other accounting tasks. Effectively coordinate the capital expenditure process including CAPEX spend and allocation, while providing supervision and management of the purchase orders' (PO) workflow. Act as a custodian of various critical processes, procedures, and tasks, encompassing accruals, prepayments, and other pertinent responsibilities, while readily addressing ad-hoc task as needed. Prepare for and manage statutory financial audit requirements and liaise with external auditors. Budget and long-term plan: Actively engage in the annual budget and long-term plan (five-years plan) exercises, meticulously verifying data and delivering precise outputs with scenarios simulations and analysis. Financial systems and modelling: Actively participate in relative IT projects and their evolutions, as a key financial user. Key User for information systems crucial for financial planning and reporting, actively contributing towards strengthening the risk control environment with financial management software tool such as MBC. Create and improve financial analysis models as per business support needs. Others: Supervise and lead the finance team to cover Finance & Corporate Affairs as necessary, and provide guidance, training and knowledge sharing and business practices. Any other reasonable request from shareholders, senior management, business unit managers. Provide ad hoc support to the finance team as needed. CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT Undertake all financial control requirements within the framework of Company objectives, Joint Venture agreements, shareholders' agreements, industry practices and statutory obligations. Oversee financial health of the Company, ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Financial Controller is expected to develop a commercial awareness of the EV business activities. ACCOUNTABILITIES Manage and oversee Company business activities in the field of financial controlling, financial operations, including investment, budgeting, Long Term Plan, forecasting and financial reporting, providing information and in-depth analysis to enable a better management decision and improvement of business results. Maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders. Assist in providing high quality, accurate financial information, and advice to management. Ensure that the information, reports and analysis are provided with strict compliance of agreed deadlines. QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Qualifications/Experience: Part/Fully Qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with degree in finance, accounting, or related field. Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar role. Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations. Excellent leadership and communication skills with an ability to support and influence senior stakeholders. Strong technical skills with good understanding of management accounting and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Power Point, and relevant financial software (experience with MBC is a plus). Proven ability to actively seek opportunities to improve finance performance and processes with willingness to learn and develop, including attaining a professional qualification. Possess good understanding of operational processes (sales, logistics, purchasing, inventory management). Strong commitment in working to meet deadlines. Experience in the renewable energy or EV charging industry is a plus.
