The Person
You'll be the sort of person that looks at a sheet of A4 and sees a swan. You're already working in a highly creative role, probably in Visual Merchandising, hopefully in high-end retail but you'll never-the-less feel slightly constrained and be looking for more scope. On top of that, you'll know that VM is about creating compelling and brand-aligned displays but that a visual proposition exists to entice and stimulate customers to buy. It's that combination - highly creative but with a commercial streak - that drives you. And in this role, you get to demonstrate both.
The Job
It's a blank sheet of paper and you'll be the person that colours it in. Or folds that swan. Genuinely, the extent of the role is for you to decide. You'll work closely with buyers to shape the range, focussing heavily on the seasonal changes and latest trends and then translating that into the overall look and feel of the site. The continuing high reputation of the business is completely in your hands; it's a reputation that is a hard-earned and precious thing and this really is a job for someone not overawed by the responsibility. In tandem with the Directors, you'll be involved in the big strategic decisions, largely influenced by seasonal changes but also have responsibility for everything visual within the site. The biggest decisions, down to the smallest, if it impacts on the visual proposition in any way it goes through you.
