They have produced more than 10,000 units, all built in the UK, and continue to explore and challenge the boundaries of boat building. As such, they are now seeking a Buyer to help them on this journey.

Your new role
In this role, you will be a key member of the purchasing team, ensuring the timely availability and cost-effective procurement of both direct and indirect materials. Your performance will be evaluated based on supplier performance and the impact on the business's bottom line through material pricing and availability. Your main responsibilities will include sourcing and placing orders for both contract and non-contract items, using MRP reports and manual requisitions. You will negotiate for lower pricing whenever possible and maintain supplier details on the MRP system, while also reviewing supplier performance. You will be responsible for monitoring supplier performance and developing improvement programs. You will also maintain minimum stock levels in line with MRP requirements and adjust component MRP parameters to ensure on-time availability and appropriate batch sizes. You will chase outstanding PO's in liaison with Production Control and assist store personnel when required, including during stocktaking. Additionally, you will assist Production Control in progressing work through the factory and help in other areas of the Company as needed. Ancillary duties will include carrying out tasks and duties as required from time to time by Senior Management. This role offers a comprehensive view of the purchasing process and the opportunity to make a significant impact on the company's operations.

What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate for this role would be CIPS qualified, although this is desirable and not essential. If you don't currently possess a CIPS qualification, a willingness to obtain one through out-of-hours or distance learning would be beneficial (this will be funded). You should have at least 3 years of experience using MRP/ERP/SAP or similar systems, and be competent in their use for placing and reviewing Purchase Orders, as well as updating parts and supplier or customer data. Experience in supplier or customer management is also required. Proficiency in the use of the MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook is expected. Experience of working in a manufacturing environment is necessary, with experience in a marine manufacturing business being an advantage. You should possess a good level of Maths and English, preferably with a grade of 5 or above in GCSE Maths & English or equivalent. A professional and entrepreneurial attitude to purchasing is essential, along with excellent communication and assertiveness skills. The role requires a flexible and reliable individual who is self-motivated and able to multi-task. You should be able to work under pressure to meet multiple project deadlines.
