My client is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and organised Management Accounts Assistant to become the cornerstone of their in-house accounting team. This role is integral to their growth plans, transitioning from an ad-hoc system to a structured in-house process. The successful candidate will maintain accurate financial records and have a key role in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and credit control.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Maintain and update financial records and ledgers with high accuracy.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable efficiently and on time.
  • Reconcile bank statements and marketplace accounts, resolving any discrepancies swiftly.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports.
  • Monitor financial transactions and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Contribute to payroll processing and ensure timely payments.
  • Take on increasing responsibility for all balance sheet accounts up to trial balance over time.
  • Handle multiple systems and tasks across two main legal entities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, Accounts Assistant, or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Zoho) and Microsoft Excel; experience with any ERP system is beneficial.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Strong analytical skills and the capacity to work under pressure.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • AAT or similar qualifications are beneficial, but relevant experience is also highly valued.
