Posted by Douglas Scott Legal Recruitment .

They are seeking a talented junior disputes lawyer (NQ -2 years PQE) to join their dynamic and growing team in London. The ideal candidate will have experience handling arbitration or litigation matters from a highly regarded London practice. While the firm has a strong focus on commodities, maritime, and energy sectors, prior knowledge or experience in these areas would be helpful but is not essential.

The successful candidate will work closely with the firm's engaged partners and have the opportunity to collaborate with industry-leading clients across several key sectors. The team will provide full support, and the role will involve significant responsibility in the management, strategy, and running of the cases.

Truly an international law firm with offices in the UK, Europe, the US, and Australia, serving a global client base. The London team works closely with their international offices, offering both long- and short-term secondment opportunities. The firm prides itself on its close-knit team, dedicated to delivering excellent service to clients in the international trade, commodities, energy, and maritime sectors.

Their team comprises exceptional lawyers from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about their work. Collaboration is key – the team values sharing ideas and discussing legal arguments in detail.

Located on High Holborn, near Holborn station, their office provides a great space for teamwork and social interactions, including lunches and post-work drinks. While the firm doesn't require full-time office attendance, regular in-office collaboration is encouraged. Please note, remote applicants will not be considered.

The Ideal Candidate

They are looking for candidates who possess:

  • Experience in the firm's core sectors of marine, commodities, and energy – either in a disputes or non-contentious context (or both) – with a focus on arbitration.
  • A strong interest in law and the legal principles involved in disputes or drafting requests.
  • Creative and analytical thinking, with an ability to solve complex problems and provide effective solutions.
  • NQ -2 years PQE, with solid training and experience in disputes/arbitration/litigation from a top London firm (preferably currently working at a London law firm).
  • A keen interest in international trade, commodities, and maritime disputes (though experience in these fields is not essential, as the role involves matters outside these areas).
  • The confidence to manage their own caseload and take on a client-facing role in case management.
  • Excellent academic qualifications, with at least a 2:1 or equivalent.
  • Qualification under English law.

The firm offers achievable target hours to qualify for bonus, highly competitive salary (£95,000-£105,000), and exciting International secondment opportunities with their US and Australian offices.
