Accounts Assistant
£24,000 - £32,000 DOE
South Side, Glasgow
Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
I am recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join my client in the Southside of Glasgow. Applicants should have at least at least one year of experience in an accounting or finance role, with an accounting qualification being advantageous. Familiarity with Xero or a similar accounting system would be beneficial, though full training will be provided to the successful candidate. This role offers a varied and hands-on experience in financial and accounting tasks, working alongside a team of two other accounts assistants and reporting directly to the Head of Finance.
Responsibilities:
- Review and approve company agency fees.
- Accurately enter fees into Xero.
- Apply receipts to corresponding transactions.
- Chase overdue fees to ensure timely payments.
- Manage the collection of marketing fees.
- Set up new suppliers in the accounting system.
- Accurately record and code invoices in Xero.
- Process payments to suppliers via the online banking facility.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations.
- Conduct detailed analysis of expenses to ensure accuracy.
- Support legal cashroom activities, including reconciling the client bank account.
- Make necessary payments and ensure they are accurately recorded.
- Review and verify cash statements for accuracy.
- Post cash receipts and payments to the client account system.
- Ensure all financial transactions are compliant with legal requirements.
Requirements:
- Confidence, organisation, and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Capability to prioritise workload using initiative.
- Experience with Xero is desired.
