Casualty Claims Handler

A leading player in the insurance market that's renowned for setting industry standards that others strive to emulate. It is well-regarded for insuring everything from the homes of high-profile individuals to cutting-edge technology firms, serving a diverse and unique customer base. Due to an internal promotion, there is an opportunity for an experienced Casualty Claims Handler to join an established team.

You will manage a portfolio of Employers & Public Liability losses, including Medical Malpractice claims. Your caseload will typically be 150 files, which will split equally across first notifications and cases that will be managed through to successful conclusion. These files will range between £25K - £100K, with the opportunity to work alongside a senior colleague for developmental purposes for cases reaching £250K. Additional responsibilities include reviewing and confirming policy coverage, setting claim strategies, and handling claims internally when feasible. The role also involves managing external advisers and experts, negotiating with various parties, and ensuring proactive portfolio management with accurate reserving and effective cost management.

To be considered, you will be an experienced Claims Handler, dealing with Employers & Public Liability, Medical Malpractice or Clinical Negligence. In addition, we welcome applications from Paralegals or Legal Executives within these lines of business.. You will have extensive policy coverage knowledge, a thorough understanding of litigation and dispute resolution, along with strong organisational and communication skills. Commercial acumen and the ability to grasp the broader impact of claims decisions on the business are also important. You will be results-driven, with the energy and determination to succeed in a fast-paced environment.

In return, you will receive a basic salary up to £45,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package. You can enjoy a work life balance, with just 1 day per week expected in the York office, with the remaining 4 days working from home.
