We are inviting applications for the position of SEN Teacher, a role that is pivotal in providing tailored education to students with special educational needs within the secondary pathway. This full-time position is suited for a compassionate and skilled educator who is ready to take on additional responsibilities and make a significant impact on the lives of students.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Deliver individualised instruction to secondary pathway students with special educational needs, ensuring they are engaged and making progress at a primary level.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with other educational professionals and families.
  • Provide PPA time effectively, focusing on lesson planning, student assessment, and curriculum development tailored to SEN students.
  • Write detailed reports on student achievements and areas for development, maintaining clear records of progress.
  • Engage with parents and guardians during parents' evenings, offering insights into their child's education and progress.
  • Participate in after-school teaching meetings, contributing to the school's ethos and continuous professional development.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other support staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a focus on Special Educational Needs.
  • Proven experience as an SEN Teacher or in a similar role within a secondary or primary educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of the SEN code of practice and experience developing IEPs.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and time-management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and staff.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and the ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual needs.
  • Flexibility to manage additional responsibilities, including report writing and attending school events outside of regular teaching hours.
