We are seeking motivated and dedicated Light Vehicle Mechanics eager to upskill to Heavy Vehicle Technicians, specifically focusing on blue light vehicles and fire engines. This upskilling program is IMI accredited and jointly designed between Shorterm and the IMI, ensuring the highest standards of training and development.

Key Responsibilities:

Participate in the IMI accredited training program, jointly designed by Shorterm and the IMI, to transition from light to heavy vehicle maintenance and repair, with a focus on blue light vehicles and fire engines.

Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of heavy vehicles, vans and light vehicles.

Adhere to all safety and quality standards to ensure optimal vehicle performance.

Work collaboratively with the team to share knowledge and best practices.

Complete all required documentation and records of the modules.

Shifts:

Early/Late Shift Monday to Friday, ensuring work-life balance and ample time for personal pursuits.

Salary and Benefits:

Competitive starting salary of £34,000 while on the program.

Upon successful completion, salary progresses to circa £44,000 and a transition to a permanent position with the client.

Comprehensive benefits package

The right candidate will have:

Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified Light Vehicle Technician with 2 years experience is ideal; however, Level 2 (or equivalent) qualified technicians with 5+ years of experience will also be considered.

Strong desire to learn and upskill to heavy vehicle maintenance.

Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Good communication skills and a proactive attitude.
