Reinsurance Senior Claims Handler - Energy, Marine, Central London, £80-90K base, 10% bonus, pension (10% company, 5% you), BUPA.
You must be an experienced reinsurance Senior Claims Handler, ideally with an energy claims and or marine claims background.
This role is hybrid requiring 2-3 days a week in a Central London office and the flexibility to travel to Luxembourg every other week.
The role:
Primarily responsible for the initial assessment and management of incoming claims. This individual will play a vital role in ensuring that claims are processed timely and accurately in line with Policy terms and Conditions, adhering to company guidelines and local legal obligations. The Claims Handler will liaise closely with the Head of Claims, Underwriters, Actuaries and other relevant departments to ensure that claims are handled promptly and efficiently and that claimants receive an excellent customer experience.
Responsibilities:
1. Review and assess incoming claims to determine their validity based on the policy terms, conditions, and exceptions.
2. Ensure accurate data entry of claim details and appropriate reserves into the Synergy2 system.
3. Liaise with the Operations and Retrocession Departments, as needed, to ensure smooth processing of claims.
4. Assist in the preparation of internal LLNs (Large Loss Notifications) to ensure timely and accurate booking of major claims.
5. Communicate with external stakeholders and third- party experts to gather necessary information and provide updates.
6. Regularly monitor and follow up on open claims to ensure timely resolution and reduce the lifecycle of a claim.
7. Handle claims in line with the company's claims procedures and escalate any claims above authority levels as designated in the referral approval process.
8. Offer support to the Head of Claims and other departments like Underwriting teams when required.
9. Maintain accurate records and documentation for each claim.
10. Report any discrepancies or issues to the Claims Manager.
11. Engage in proactive claims handling in line with internal controls.
12. Assist in the quarterly review of claims reserves to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.
13. Assist in the preparation of monthly or quarterly reports detailing claims trends, issues, or other relevant analysis.
14. Help in maintaining a list of approved loss adjusters in the regions where the company operates.
15. Stay updated with the latest regulatory, legal, and company changes that affect the claims process.
16. Undertake any other related tasks as directed by the Claims Manager or CEO.
Your background / experience:
Extensive experience as a Reinsurance Claims Handler in Energy and or Marine.
You should currently have experience of at least £500K settling authority.
A degree in Law, Business Administration, Insurance or related fields.
A proven background dealing wth complex matters, including extensive experience in litigation / arbitration
Strong MS-Office - Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and advanced Excel.
French would be a plus but is not essential.
