Incredible opportunity for a data protection / privacy specialist to take on this incredible in-house role; working for an iconic British business based in central London.

Our client are looking for someone with at least five years' previous experience of working in a data protection or privacy role, either in-house or from private practice. It is important that this person feels comfortable dealing with BAU type requests and matters on a daily basis, whilst also providing high-level strategic support and advice to the wider business.

You will be responsible for managing a small team of data protection professionals, so previous people management would be advantageous.

In this exciting role, you will be responsible for leading the organisation's data privacy program globally. The day-to-day remit includes:

  • Reviewing the business' global data protection and governance strategy to ensure that it is fit for purpose and implementing any necessary changes
  • Providing pragmatic, regulatory guidance to ensure the implementation of data policies and processes
  • Undertaking detailed Privacy Impact Assessments
  • Leading meetings to ensure stakeholders (incl Legal, Marketing, IT, and InfoSec) are aligned on data protection requirements and taking action where required
  • Collaborating with the Information Security function (InfoSec) to maintain records of all data assets and exports, and maintain a data security incident management plan to ensure timely remediation of incidents including impact assessment, security breaches, complaints, claims or notifications and respond to subject access requests
  • Working closely with the business to ensure data compliance in all transformation projects
  • Managing data privacy contracts with third party data processors. Review supplier and client agreements, including international data transfer measures.

This role requires an individual with at least 5 years' experience of data privacy matters, ideally having undertaken a similar leadership role. Applications are welcomed from both admitted solicitors, and those who aren't legally qualified but have a significant volume of data experience. You must have the CIPP (or equivalent professional certification) and an in-depth knowledge of GDPR regulations.

You will be working within a small team so it's important that as well as leading on the high-profile and complex matters, that you are also willing to throw yourself into the more routine day-to-day tasks.
