Data Analyst Apprentice

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Data Analyst to join our team. As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for collecting, analysing, and interpreting large datasets to provide valuable insights and support data-driven decision-making.

You will collaborate with various stakeholders to understand their requirements, identify data sources, and develop reports and visualizations to communicate findings effectively.

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of financial instruments markets, especially FX, strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of statistical methods, proficiency in data manipulation and visualization tools, and a strong desire to learn and grow.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, clean, and validate data from various sources, including market feeds, trading platforms, and internal systems, to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Analyse large datasets containing market data, trade transactions, and customer behaviour to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including traders, risk managers, and compliance officers, to understand their data analysis requirements and provide relevant insights.
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations to effectively communicate key metrics, performance indicators, and trading strategy evaluations.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis and statistical modelling to evaluate trading strategies, measure risk exposure, and optimize order execution.
  • Stay up-to-date with regulatory requirements and financial industry trends in trading and data analysis to ensure compliance and adopt best practices.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects to enhance data-driven decision-making, automation, and operational efficiency within the FX brokerage business.
  • Provide ad-hoc data analysis support for investigations, compliance audits, and management reporting.

Requirements:

  • Good understanding of foreign exchange markets, trading concepts, and financial instruments.
  • Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using SQL, Python, R, or similar tools.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms to create interactive dashboards and reports.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and quantitative modelling techniques for financial data analysis.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to draw meaningful insights from complex data sets.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply critical thinking to address trading-related challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively present findings and explain technical concepts to stakeholders.
  • Keenness to learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and analytical approaches in the field of data analysis.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst in the FX brokerage industry or a financial services organization is a plus.
  • Familiarity with trading platforms, market data feeds, and order management systems in the FX industry in a plus.

Entry Requirements:

Standard Entry:

  • Level 3 qualification (apprenticeship/A-levels/BTEC, etc)
  • OR equivalent work experience (typically two years in a relevant role)

Plus:

  • 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above
  • Experience with using Excel and Microsoft products (or similar)

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
