Graduate Graphic Designer / Art Worker

Posted by SME Graduate Employment Ltd.

You'll have colleagues who write excellent content for social media, across a range of channels; your job will be to grab people's attention, so they read it.

There's loads of other things you'll be doing, too: creating designs to promote events and conferences. Putting together slides and promotional materials for webinars. Creating newsletters. And contributing work for Magazines, and corporate literature. You'll also be creating HTML emails.

It's business to business work, and a lot of your content will be going out to very well known businesses; there will be brand guidelines to follow.

It's a fun, creative environment: you'll be working closely with colleagues who are Journalists and Marketers.

The business organises events for people who work in the Transport, Housing, Health, and Hydrogen industries (a lot of which relates to net zero / sustainability) industries. So your work will be aimed at businesses in them.

Maybe not the most glamorous of industries; but hey, not everyone can work in fashion.

You'll have fun getting to know about those different industries, and tailoring your designs towards the people who work in them. There is plenty of scope to use your creativity.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED...

A Graphic Design related degree, and good skills with the Adobe Creative Suite. A wide knowledge of computer graphics software packages would be ideal.

You'll need good attention to detail; nothing can get sent out with mistakes

It would be great to see some examples of your work, so you'll need some kind of portfolio.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT...

Training will be on the job, and you'll be contributing from an early stage, so you'll need to be happy with this, and have confidence in your work. There are Managers who will be guiding you; one previously worked in design, the other worked with the previous designer for over 2 years. But you will be the only Designer. You'll need a willingness to learn new disciplines and ability to take the initiative to work on your own

You'll be encouraged to come up with ideas on how to improve the way things are done.

There are several others in the team who started as graduates, so the business knows what pace you will need, and how to support you.

WHERE YOU'LL BE DOING IT...

The offices are in Macclesfield, and are commutable from areas including Stockport, Congleton, Buxton, and the north-side of Stoke.

WHAT YOU'LL GET...

A starting salary of £23,000 with reviews and rises when you are in the job
