We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Fleet professional to join SNG as a Fleet Safety Specialist on a permanent basis.
We're looking for someone to deliver the right outcome for our customers and colleagues and lead on the safety and performance of our 750+ commercial vehicle drivers, changing our cultures and embedding a strong vehicle management process within the locality teams.
Based from any of our offices across our geography in the South, you'll combine office and home working to ensure a positive work life balance. This role will involve travel across our regions, therefore a driving licence and access to a car is required.
The role:
The Fleet Safety Specialist will be responsible for continuously improving fleet driving safety performance by enhancing driving skills and compliance as well as the safety systems of our commercial fleet of vehicles and the drivers in accordance with legislation, policy and procedure.
In partnership with the HSE and L&D teams, we are looking for someone to lead the development, management, and delivery of risk assessments, training programmes and safety awareness to our fleet users, supporting locality managers in understanding their team's driving performance and behaviours.
What we're looking for:
- Commercial Fleet professional with strong technical knowledge of driving and vehicle Safety best practice, CPC qualification and/or Institute of Advanced Motorist qualification
- Auditing and incident investigation skills
- Good reporting skills that clearly identifies the areas of focus
- Excellent people skills and the ability to communicate effectively within a multi-site network are essential for this role.
- Understanding of regulatory and other external influences in Fleet Management and how these may apply in the housing sector.
- Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills
- Strong IT skills
- The candidate should have a wide and varied understanding of a range of vehicles. HGV knowledge would also be beneficial.
- Ability to validate and impact assess, to escalate data issues as required.
- Knowledge of methods to monitor the quality of data and identify issues e.g. reconciliations
