National Inventory Manager - hybrid

National Inventory Manager, Salary up to £45-50k + car allowance & excellent benefits package, candidate location flexible – hybrid working 50/50 home and office based with travel to sites across the UK when required.

We have an exciting opportunity for a National Inventory Manager to work for an industry leading, multi-site business in the construction hire sector. We are keen to hear from candidates with proven experience in an Inventory Control Manager, supply chain management, or related roles. Experience with inventory management software and ERP & MRP systems is preferred.

The role:

The National Inventory Manager is responsible for managing and optimising inventory levels across all locations. This role involves overseeing inventory transactions, conducting regular audits, analysing inventory data, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. The National Inventory Manager will collaborate with various departments to maintain a balance between inventory availability and cost efficiency.

  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records, monitor stock levels, and ensure timely replenishment of inventory to avoid stockouts or overstock situations.
  • Inventory Audits: Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical counts and system records. Investigate and resolve any variances.
  • Data Analysis: Analyse inventory data to identify trends, forecast demand, and recommend inventory optimisation strategies. Utilise inventory management software to generate reports and insights.
  • Process Improvement: Develop and implement inventory control procedures and best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in inventory management. Continuously seek opportunities for process improvements.
  • Supplier Coordination: Work closely with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods, manage lead times, and address any supply chain issues. Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with purchasing, production, sales, and logistics teams to align inventory levels with production schedules and customer demand. Provide support for production planning and order fulfilment.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations related to inventory management. Prepare and present regular inventory reports to management.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with inventory management such as obsolescence, theft, and damage. Implement measures to safeguard inventory.

Candidate requirements:

  • Proven experience in an Inventory Control Manager, supply chain management, or related roles.
  • Experience with inventory management software and ERP & MRP systems is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Certification in inventory management or supply chain management (e.g., APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)) or CIPS would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Just-In-Time (JIT) inventory systems would be advantageous.
