Psychology Graduate - Mental Health Support
A Specialist School just outside Reading town centre are looking for a caring and motivated graduate to join their team full-time in September, helping to support children with complex mental health difficulties and learning needs. The school caters for students with social, emotional and mental health needs, including anxiety, trauma, attachment issues and behaviour challenges. The school are therefore seeking a patient, calm, understanding and positive graduate who wants to make a difference.
Your role as a Learning Support Assistant will involve providing mental health and academic support to the students in class, whilst also helping the class teacher and multi-therapy teams on-site. You will be instrumental in providing the students with a role model who they can trust, and help encourage them to make positive choices. You will also help them understand and regulate their own emotions, and boost self-esteem.
This Mental Health Support role is an excellent opportunity for a recent university graduate who is interested in a long-term career in the mental health, education or clinical sector. Previous experience working with children or vulnerable adults would be beneficial.
By working with and mentoring the students, you will gain invaluable first-hand experience supporting vulnerable children with mental health challenges and adverse childhood experiences. This could be the crucial step you need to become a Psychologist, Counsellor or Mental Health practitioner in the future. You will also help transform the lives of young people who desperately need supporting.
