Senior Sales Manager

  • Location: Remote (UK-based) with travel as needed.
  • Sales Manager - Team lead and hands on (20/80 split) - Team to be built!
  • NEW ROLE within the business!

This will be a new new business/ hunter based role within the business.. initially to get stuck into new clients and relationships selling 2 offerings - MUST be comfortable to focus on outreach for a while! Once the role is established you will be able to hire a team member to take over the grunt work so that you can focus on the growth strategy, Gov etc.

Role

  • The Senior Sales Manager will play a decisive role in driving their sales efforts within the legal sector, with a strong emphasis on operational execution, and as they grow, leadership.
  • Using your deep knowledge of the industry, the players and the relationships in this market, you will lead their charge for revenue growth.
  • In addition to direct sales activities, you will also take the lead on account development, ensuring long-term client relationships and sustained growth.
  • This will be an evolving role from the get-go.
  • A critical aspect of this role is the creation and nurturing of a new sales organization, where you will recruit, develop, and manage a team of high-performing Sales Executives.
  • Your leadership will be crucial in shaping a sales team that excels in all stages of the sales process, from prospecting to closing deals, allowing you to focus on the more strategic aspects of the role.
  • You will also oversee sales governance, including the development and monitoring of key metrics and reporting systems.
  • This will ensure that the team operates efficiently and meets performance targets. The role demands a proactive, hands-on approach, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

Profiling and ICP Development

Develop detailed buyer and user personas, specifically in the legal sector, to guide sales efforts.

Identify and refine the Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) for targeted outreach and sales campaigns.

Business Development

Identify new business opportunities and partnerships.

Drive expansion into new markets, including overseas and customer segments.

Prospecting

Identify and qualify new leads through various channels, including LinkedIn, news sources, legal directories, class action news (EU, USA, Australia), events, trade shows, exhibitions, seminars, social media, and compliance officer groups.

Monitor and analyze trends in class action news and legal sector developments to identify potential opportunities.

Customer Engagement and Feedback

Engage with customers to understand their needs and gather feedback for strategy, marketing and product development.

Use customer insights to refine sales plans and help improve product offerings.

Contract Reviews

Oversee the negotiation and review of sales contracts.

Ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

Sales Governance

Develop a sales cycle framework that works across all their target sales personas.

Implement, monitor and manage key stage metrics.

Design and deliver reporting for forecasting and results.

Set and manage team goals.

Performance manage the sales team.

Operational Sales Planning

Develop and execute strategic sales plans, aligned with product development.

Ensure alignment with overall business objectives and market opportunities.

Building and Directing a Sales Team

Identify resourcing needs and constraints.

Recruit, train, and mentor the sales team.

Provide direction, support, and motivation to ensure team success.

Knowledge Sharing and Content Promotion

Promote content such as white papers and testimonials to generate interest and engagement.

Share knowledge within the sales team to continuously improve outreach strategies and tactics.

Required Experience

  • The ideal candidate for the Sales Manager role will bring extensive operational experience in sales management, particularly within the SaaS or legal sectors
  • Proven Leadership: At least 5 years of experience managing and leading a sales team, with a demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and motivate Sales Executives.
  • Sales Operations Expertise: A strong background in sales within the legal sector and in selling SAAS products. The role requires overseeing all aspects of the sales pipeline, from lead generation and qualification to closing and customer retention.
  • Exposure to CRM tools is highly desirable.
  • Track Record of Success: Evidence of achieving and exceeding sales targets, with experience in setting performance goals and driving team performance.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the legal sector or SaaS industry is highly desirable, with a deep understanding of market dynamics and customer needs.
  • Hands-On Approach: Experience in a hands-on, operational role with a focus on daily sales activities and process optimization.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field would be preferred but is not essential.
